RE: more
Nice truck, buy! I'd love to have that hard top for mine. On the steering question, the M37 steering boxes were designed with a little more "slop" in 'em than most people are used to these days. Saves on busted thumbs on rough terrain. If you have more than, say, 1/4 turn of...
RE: M38A1 won
Sure sounds llike it was in 4-wheel low. The shaking could be due to bad steering components, out-of-round tires, or bent wheel rims. If you had a lot of vibration, you ought to check all your u-joints and transfer case bearings.
The push dozers were built by LeTourneau-Westinghouse. They operate like a railroad locomotive. The diesel turns a generator which, in turn, powers electric drive motors in the wheels.
RE: New addition, m35a2c (dad
Look at the right front fender! Definately looks like the frame is bent just behind the cab. Looks like that dump box has been way overloaded a time or two!
RE: Reduction geared lug wrench
I used to use one of those in a rock quarry where I once worked as a mechanic for a short while. Mighty handy gadget to have when you can't get compressed air to the vehicle with a flat tire!
Doggone it! You stopped at Rock Island Arsenal and didn't even stop by to see me? I live 50 miles south of the island and pass that display every time I go to the PX, commissary, or clinic, which is about once a month. I'd love to have one of those tiny tanks (the one with the diamond plate...
RE: Re: RE: XM 705 anybody ??
Actually, I kinda like the look of the XM705. It's definately an unusual ride. Did they ever get past the experimental stage and lose the "X" designation?
I had to look down a few threads to find the "before" pics, but I found 'em. The truck definately looks better without those huge bed sides on it. FWIW, I'd find a way to get rid of 'em if i had to sell 'em for scrap and put some stock sides on it. Keeping the tin top would make the truck...
Me, too. It's nice when the public gets a little insight into our "quirky ways." Maybe folks in that neck of the woods won't look at the club members like they have something wrong with them after reading the article. One can only hope, anyway. :)
I got a good one...except for the hole in the side of the block...for $600. Mine has a few dents and dings in the bed, but no rust. For the one you mention, I'd say that $200 would be pushing the max.
On the license question, I have a non-commercial Class B license here in Illinois. Got it when they changed over to the CDL system and converted the the old chauffer's license to the new ones. I don't drive commercially any more (can't pass a DOT physical), but I keep renewing the Class B...
The running one would be neat to have. I don't think the City Council would approve of my parking it at the curb in front of my house, though. If it's not new and shiny, they don't like it. ;)
I know what you mean, Wreckerman. I was stationed at K2 (Taegu AB) in 1972/73 and most of the ROKAF vehicles were US vehicles which had been transferred to the Koreans as they were replaced by more modern vehicles in the US inventory. When we got M151s, they got our M38A1s to supplement their...
Great pics. Nice to see that "foreigners" like to play with the trucks we left behind, too. My favorites were the Dodge "weapons," most of which were WC-series. My absolute favorite, though, was the M37 which was also identified as a "Dodge Weapon." :)
Hmmmm! Bidding closed st $2,500 on Deceimber 4th with the "reserve not met." Now, he has relisted it with a minimum bid of $1,000. What in the world is he thinking???
