Had a chance to change out tires on a M270 Aircraft Recovery Trailer I rescued from a local house moving company down in the Mississippi delta this week. The six hour trip there was long but uneventful, I had two of my brothers accompany me! Even with a one inch air wrench it took a while to...
I carry most of the standard BII, but not the crosscut saw! I have added a MEP-531A (2Kw genset) great running power tools and lights! I still need a good out of the way spot to store it?
You are lucky on the documentation, as for the fluids, I won a M543A2 wrecker several years ago from GSA/Homeland Security? The only fluids on the truck were the four dead batteries! Cost me almost a grand to replace them, it doesn't take long for it to add up to some dollars when you start...
They are rough, but Goldsby has some decent one show up every once in a while. I have picked up a couple of M715 WW for a grand or so, but they did require some De-brush trucking!
Good luck
Look at state forestry equipment auctions, they are trading in M1008s all the time, most go for well under $2000 some for half that, buy two and come out with a complete truck with plenty of spares!
Wheel chocks are your friend! I was over at the Oklahoma forestry yard picking up a M715, as I waited my turn I was watching the forestry guys trying to pull a truck out of a line of trucks for a buyer. They are sometimes less gently than they should be and as they moved one truck it bumped...
Sorry guys no more trips to New Orleans for us, just saw where the city council there has decided to rewrite history and purge the city of all racist remembrances such as Robert E. Lee's statue etc. Time to start a new Christmas tradition, maybe Branson?
I don't mind following the rules but when you change them I would like to know, so I can bring the right vehicle! A little consistency would be a big help on dealing with the different sites.
Depending on who loads you and their "state of mind" be prepared to load out pallets/cardboard/crates or you may be making another trip! Don't ask how I know! (Eleven hour round trip)
I have the same problem, when the lights are on the horn blows, I was told the two circuits had grounded out together? I took the field expedient method and unhooked the horn. Need to revisit this one.
