Pedal faster! Haha no. Going to the 395's on MRAP wheels for sure, then look at the transmission from there if the tires don't help enough. I plan on driving this truck on longer trips both on pavement and offroad so getting the speed up a little bit will help alot. I know the speed can be...
Took a close look at that lug after I bent the breaker bar, it's the correct left hand thread, just seized on there.
Rayzer the brake fluid vent was re-routed to tie into another vent. There is a 1" tube coming off of the engine that vents downwards over the front axle, the brake fluid vent was...
Picked up the truck about a week ago, today I've started working on it. Drove it a little over 330 miles home. Other than degrading brakes and learning where empty is on the fuel gauge it was a very good trip.
My plans for the build are to update/upgrade the steering and brakes, bring the...
Haha well by that I mean over the last 5 or so years seems like the average for a 'basic and stock' deuce has gone up about 2-3k, that I've noticed. Considering that the value of our dollar keeps falling and inflation rising, it's a "reasonable rate" of increase. Not enough to go out and buy a...
With the parts supply it would not be difficult to 'modernize' things on the truck if it's a concern. The axles are used by commercial equipment so not a concern there, really only the engine/trans/t-case, brakes to have to worry about getting parts for if you want to keep it original.
I've...
Has been an interesting day. Last night when I pulled the deuce into the back yard it was too late to clear up the rubble from when I tore out a section of the cinderblock fence a few days earlier. About noon I started cleaning it up, tossing the broken blocks into the bed. So far have had 2 of...
Upgrading to a dual circuit master cylinder before the next drive, that will take care of it. I need to compliment the steering on it, even on the ndt's there was very little play. Total side to side movement was next to nothing and the truck tracks wonderfully.
Just purchased an old deuce and a half from a fellow SS member here. Started the drive out of Las Cruces New Mexico and drove it back to Midland Texas, cruising along at 50mph along interstate 10 and 20.
A friend of mine came along, driving the pickup/support truck for just in case.

The caiman is good against small arms fire. Did quite a few post blast analysis on these (EOD tech) while I was deployed to Iraq. I wouldn't trust them against an explosive attack of over 50 lbs. The aluminum saves weight, but doesn't hold up against the frag of IED's.
Looks like some fun trips. I was stationed at Hill AFB from 2009-2012, spent most of my time at the demolition ranges and Dugway. Lots of great off roading in that area
