I like the idea. Might want to keep in mind the overall height for offroad and shipping applications for those that want to take the vehicle to other continents on trips.
the crossover steering upgrade is not mandatory but helps alot with steering issues and wheel travel when your offroad (the twisty stuff). crossover will reduce the amount of bump steer you get tremendously, its also a stronger setup and your able to keep your ability to turn all the way when...
thanks i'll keep looking around. found a duece in slc, repainted blue and used on a farm. guy is asking 3800 bucks but runs/drives/and is registered, gonna go look at it tomorrow. wont have a crane but i could do without that, less maintenance for a first MV.
thanks for the heads up, the trucks are the only thing i've asked about there and was able to get the m246 down to 3400 bucks (havent signed the papers yet), gotta agree with the statement about the workers there though. one of the guys, if he finds out your military he seems alot more willing...
well i've got them talked down to $3400 bucks, just processing the loan paperwork but looks like the m246 is mine. the other trucks are still available along with alot of other misc parts that are floating around in the back. place is called 'smith and edwards', located north of ogden.
lol i was waiting to post the location so nobody could steal it out from under me haha. its at a place called "smith and edwards", just north of ogden Utah. its going on hill afb most likely to the rv storage lot.
i'm active duty EOD (explosive ordnance disposal), i'll ask if i can do that...
i got him down to $3500, check should arrive tomorrow and after work gonna go look it over one more time, try to haggle some more, and if everything is good i'll have myself my first MV :-D
looks like i'm most likely getting the M246 wrecker, currently a non-runner. might be needing a tow vehicle to get it to its storage location next week if somebody is willing to help?
typed in M246 in google search, was on the 3rd page. really good info giving a comparison test, and actual results from the test such as its ability to tow and weight lifting at the different crane lengths.
lol that sounds like me. my current daily driver is an 84 chevy k30. $300 for the truck, $250 for a replacement running 454, $300 for tires.
like i said the guy there today seemed to have no idea about the vehicles so i'm going to try and figure out the actual price tomorrow when i call them...
dont sell it, put it in a storage lot, rv storage would work. if you know anybody on a military base near you most bases have lots you can park trailers/rv's/extra vehicles for a CHEAP rate. that would work for as long as you need it to. maybe you can build a car port or a shed on your lot at a...
well went by the place today and took a close look at the m246. guy that was watching over the yard today didnt have much information about any of the vehicles so i'll have to either call them or swing by another time  , guy 'thinks' the m246 is $5k and $4k for any of the other vehicles...
lol red would have said 'sold' right off the bat as well if 1. he knew how great of a value he had found and 2. had the money readily available. been rebuilding my credit since i was 17, **** identity theft
