You have any ideas Guyfang? The valves can close but only when the rocker nut is loosened. It's like there should be shim washers under the fulcrum that tightens against the head stud that that is the rocker stud. Nothing like that in the TM's. I'm stumped and not many if any people on this...
Thanks. It is what I suspected as mentioned. Compression. Those valves. I read in a TM that the push rods are to turn by hand when down of cam lobe. Not ever. Waiting for someone that knows about these engines to maybe point out what's going on. Thanks.
Yes. I know of the S-10 switch but the fuel stop start lever needed to be on in order to let fuel to the IP's and injectors to see what kind of spray pattern I was getting which is great.
On the start stop lever. When solenoid is left off it rotates to fuel on CW. Turning CCW will turn...
I went out and turned engine over by hand with fan. There just isn't much compression if at all and it's the darn rockers being tight not allowing the valve up so that it can seat and seal for cylinder compression.
OK. Not as good of luck as Jamawieb. Put start stop lever shaft assembly in properly. Put front cover on, radiator in, added coolant, etc. to the point of starting it. Still no go. Injector pumps are squirting at injectors. Pulled exhaust and then injectors. Injectors came right out...
Super! Super! Super! I received my new on/off shaft lever today and am headed out to the shop soon to hopefully have the same success you had! Take care!
OK. I'll do the best I can here to describe for you what I've found. I really appreciate it when others have taken time to help and explain to me things I'm stumped on so I'm going to try to do the same here but it may be a little long winded.
What I find on the fuel shut off rail is that...
Thank you Guyfang. The generator set is in good shape. 900 hours. I pulled front cover off today and all is good inside. That fuel shut off rail I believe is the issue as if it can move to far in the direction of shutting off the IP pin/levers will come out of the rail and not go back in...
Thank you. No stress on remembering the crankcase vacuum or pressure. I'm thinking it will clear up once running for a longer time. I'm tempted to pull the pipe plug on front of engine and plumb it for some sort of vent but not a priority now. That fuel is the issue I'm certain of. What...
One other thing. I have a little bit of crankcase pressure as it turns over and running. That would suggest damage to cylinder walls thus blow-bye I'm thinking. Engine seems to be in good shape with no water issues. I don' t see a crankcase breather of any kind which is really strange...
I'm having virtually the same problem. Bought generator that was suppose to run but it wouldn't start. Turned over but no go. Eventually it ran and I turned it off and on numerous times. Personally thought it should start quicker. Anyway then no start. Checked fuel at IP which are both...
Thank you in advance for diagnosing my Hertz question.
I recently picked up a 003A which runs great and generates power great. The voltage gauge is at 240 but the hertz gauge doesn't work consistently. Only once have I been able to adjust engine rpm to achieve 60 hertz. I know that idling...
You'd think it would be easy to find in the manual but I've looked high and low. Vehicle manuals I've had have a specificaton and capacity section. I've not found it in the manuals yet. Table of contents, nothing. Index, nothing. The resource section has the same thing I've looked through...
Sounds simple but What is the NAPA # for the oil filter for a MEP 002a and what type of oil is recomended for sea level no hotter than 95 degrees f . I was looking through the manual and saw 30, 10, and 15-40 weight I think. On my MEP 003a I used amsoil 5w-30 heavy duty diesel but on the 002...
I have a small oil leak on a MEP 002a. It appears to be coming from a small threaded hole that is under the injector pump. It is right up against the engine block right next to the stamped numbers and is facing the electrical power head. Powerwashed everything and then ran it to make sure the...
O.K. fellas. The voltage gauge read 240 so that was good. I checked power as it went into the main switch on the one leg (3) that wasn't giving me power and walla there was the same voltage as leg 1. Tells us the main switch is having issues. Can the main switch be taken apart and cleaned...
