SS members what do you think ?

Looks like a busy month. In all of these, the family has asked, requested, or invited the PGR. The families wishes for the PGRs roll in the service is always spelled out. SHORT NOTICE - Phillip A Iker, 62, USA, Vietnam Veteran, Calvin, OK, 02 JUL 12 SHORT NOTICE - Jimmie Lee Powell Jr., 49...

SS members what do you think ?

I'm all for the representing freedom bit, but I think the interference and ensuring respect mission is more important. A deuce would make a pretty good wall of silence. A year or two ago I was on my way to a job site in the midwest in the company truck. A funeral and PGR procession was heading...

SS members what do you think ?

Unless I'm mistaken, one of the main goals of the PGR is to provide interference, or a wall of protection between the military family and a certain 'religious' group. Ah, I see someone was a second or more faster than me and mentioned the group. Oops, now that post is gone. I must...

    Abandoned Vehicle issue Government Liquidators

Just to be clear, the OP did take responsiblity in the first post. He's just asking for advice in mitigating his losses, not offering excuses.

One month to the 25 annual Weare rally!!

As I mentioned in another thread, I'll be there with my M35, M43, and 601. The 601 is still stuck on the side of a mountain way the heck up north, but I'll do my best to drag her down kicking and screaming. Sent in a check a couple of weeks ago for a camp spot, but haven't been able to check...

    Picture question

The classifieds OP had asked him to post a picture showing the tires he bought from him. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/parts-sale/88843-new-super-singles-14-00s-395s-2.html

    New guy from Norway

I'm going to check those reloaded pictures, meanwhile... Norwegian troops attack US Marines near Kirkenes... :-D

Nice price!! :jumpin: So, by 'up north', I might assume Kirkenes?

    New guy from Norway

Hallo! Where did you find your truck? Never been to Rudshøgda, but I've spent some time in Kongsberg, Tromso, Kirkenes, AND Longyearbyen/Kongsfjord Svalbaard. Lots of Russian equipment up there at the time. Sorry for the incorrect spelling of the place names, but neither my...

    LEO + Municipal HMMWV Mods

I drove through a tiny little town last month, maybe 500 peeps between downtown (where the stop sign was) and the 'burbs. The police dept had maybe 3 humvs, a 5ton, and a deuce If I remember correctly (will have to check the pictures I took). My first thought was 'what the heck, are they...

    Blue Hot Rod M37

There's nothing wrong with Strata Blue (or in this case maybe it's cream strata blue metallic). MVs come in other than OD, as seen below. If the OP truck was ex-USAF, then the color is pretty close to correct. But not too thrilled about the Chevy chassis and the square headlights.

    Check Your Tires

The image I posted was a screen shot from their webpage this morning. For the 2009 Chev Silverado 3500HD Ext Cab Long Bed Dually, it says Wrangler Silent Armors. For my new truck, a 2011 Chev Silverado 3500HD Ext Cab Long Bed Single, it says no to the Silent Armors. I guess Goodyear considers...

    Check Your Tires

A few years ago I had a fairly new set of Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors on my dually work truck. Most of them began to blister up as in the OP. It seemed to start happening under load and at highway speeds. I think that under those conditions the internal air temperature (and therefore...

    Urban legend or Nuclear Tatra

I hope this thread isn't considered long dead, but I just stumbled apon it. I have some experience here. I've worked with (or more correctly, lived with) Sr90-fueled RTGs in the USAF. They were hand-me-downs from the USN. They had outlived their useful life for the Navy mission, but still had...

New Mexico members check in here!

The vet memorial park is too difficult to access during high traffic hours (corner of Gibson and Louisiana), but the balloon park has a couple of straight shots off the interstate and plenty of room to turn and park the big trucks.

    USCG Dueces

I made several trips to LorSta Attu in the early '80s. The coasties there would scavenge together parts from all of the material left behind by the Navy and Army after WWII. While I was there they kludged together an M37, slapped some paint on it, and called it 'The Whoopie Truck'. We explored...
