    Sloppy Gear Shift

Very Nice work . The whole B series transmissions were a improvement over the early units . They are interchangeable and all around are a better unit and are a LITTLE hard to find . I bet there are a lot left in SEA !

    F134 Engine

I second what Karl said . IMHO , learning a engine rebuild on the fly is NOT the way to go . Part of the process is checking over the old parts for wear , gives you information for the rebuild . Do you have the tools ? I could go on and on , point is your best bet is take the engine to a GOOD...

    Mule tire changing?

I just changed my tires this week . I purchased a HF Tire Changer which worked OK taking the old tires off , but I bent the tire bar attempting to put the New tires on and started to rip a bead . I then went back to tire irons and LOTS of tire lube , but started to nick up the aluminium rims to...

    Could a M1028A3 possibly just be a M1008?..?

Because my mind is SHOT , not sure where I saw the classified , here on this site or that other big buying/selling site . Looked like a nice MV through , ride and drive as they say .

    Could a M1028A3 possibly just be a M1008?..?

Should be right side top of the frame rail just behind the cab . It's pin stamped into the frame so if there is a lot of rust it could be hard to see .

    Could a M1028A3 possibly just be a M1008?..?

I think I looked at the same MV and I had the same questions , something does not appear correct with the data plates and/or the MV . Some where along the line SOMETHING got changed .:shrugs:

Crank has me all cranked up

Agreed , sure looks like something got to those bearing journals . If it were my engine , I would hot tank the block , head and crankshaft , line bore the block , re-size the rods and perform any other machine work and reassemble . Your next problem would be to find a good machine shop .

New Guy with M1008 from Eastern Long Island, NY

Welcome to the insanity !! IMHO , I think a CUCV is a great entrance vehicle to the Military Vehicle hobby . Parts and pieces are readily available . They do have there issues , but so does my M37 , so go for it and have fun !!!! We have a few CUCV members in our club and I would also suggest...

Crank has me all cranked up

If you could post a few pictures of the bearings , it might help . Hot tanking the block is very important as well as making sure the oil passages are CLEAN . I would look for a new crank , check your rods and mains and line bore your block . BTW , it sounds like what ever happened started at...

Crank has me all cranked up

Usually when the bearing wear prematurely , I would look at contamination and or oil starvation . Did you hot tank the block and check all the oil passages ? Is it just one main bearing/rod bearing ? all of them ? . IMHO 60 over cut to the crank is a lot .Did you line bore the block ? Sorry to...
