I agree, the fuel usage does seem to be quite reasonable. I have been considering building a wood splitter that runs off the tool circuit but was worried about the fuel usage. The concept would be wire the remote throttle so that its only engaged when the splitter wedge is engaged.
I agree, read the manual and do all the preventative maintenance on the SEE before driving it. You could be causing damage that you will regret later. The lube routine where you start at one point and then rotate around the vehicle is definitely worth doing. As an example, the portal axles...
Congrats on your progress. If there are no leaks, the compressor should pump up to a certain setpoint and vent air from the regulator every so often when the pressure goes over the high setpoint. This in theory drains any liquid out of the lines upstream of the regulator. If its not "spitting"...
I would suggest not going directly at the compressor. Go the misc. tech manuals forum and download the student guide. It has the best air and brake system drawings out there. Now find the air line from the compressor located between the front and rear wheel on the passenger side. Break the line...
I am not a video person. If you go to this link https://esco.net/video-gallery/ and scroll down through the videos and look for" Pneu-Tech tire dismount and mount" It covers the tools except for the optional tire wedge. https://esco.net/products/hd-bead-demounting-wedge/ and a beat breaker...
Well I did a full tire swap today and the tools work as advertised. I did pick up a small accessory piece that they sell which guides the bead down in the depressed part of the rim. I only dismounted one tire and there is definitely a learning curve but took me about 45 minutes. I had already...
FYI, I found the individual seller on Ebay.uk that sells various replacement OEM type replacement boots, "blueman636". This is just an example but if you search his store he has several sizes complete with the snap rings. He only ships small stuff to the US (no freight). I have ordered a set of...
I think there are a couple of other issues that haven't been mentioned. Some of them conspire to make things even more difficult. If you look at various parts suppliers they sell accelerator pedals and accelerator pedal bushings, I don't think they do it for the chuckles, I think they are just...
Let me start out that the throttle liinkage on the SEE is nighmare worsened by how it it appears to added in once they fit the engine through the smallest hole in the cab they could. Add in the extra remote throttle for the backhoe and it get even more complex. That said I expect the Mercedes...
A follow up on my third yearly spring starting experience. Given my poor experiences for the last two years getting my SEE started I decided to go all out. I got the boat tank and squeeze bulb out of storage and filled it up with some winter grade diesel I had left over. Over the years I had...
Mine does on occasion latch as intended but most of the time its a battle. i park it with the front end lower than the rear which occasionally helps but sometimes no choice but use the outrigger.
To date I had two tires deflate over the winter and pop off the bead with the net result in the spring I end up with a very badly distorted bead and sidewall with the tire sitting on the rim with lots of varying gap between the tire and the rim. After reaching inside the rim and changing the...
Mounting a tire on a rim went pretty slick. Even with the video on their website it looks like there is a learning curve. Tire mounting grease is definitely part of the process, I applied it with rubber gloves. Took me about 15 minutes to get a Pirelli Pista on a SEE rim. The tire bead...
There is lot of discussion on the monster Unimog thread on leaking cylinder seals. I know I posted the name of company that sells the seals and the tools at one point but I would have to go searching. There is also discussion that getting the caps loose is a major effort. Because of that, unless...
While viewing another forum I saw an interesting cut and paste from the Mercedes Unimog Archive listing US military Unimog Variants and production runs. All the old PR I have seen listed or showed three variants, The SEE (loader excavator), The HMMH ( all terrain forklift and hydraulic crane)...
Rather than add to the "infinite" SEE thread I thought I would post a new thread on changing SEE tires. It also applies to my 1300L tires as is also is a Steel Soldier as its former German Ambulance. Both have the same tire size and rims but my 1300L has Conti MPT MIL military tires which have a...
Looks to me like you needed to chain up. I have 4 of the Pewag army surplus chains I need to cut down to fit my tire size. Someone on Ebay stuffs one chain in a priority mail one rate box and saves a bundle on shipping compared to UPS. I get a note from the post office when they arrive as the...
