I wouldn’t even try to work a deal with this truck. It’s a basket case. Not ready for the scrapyard, just needs tons of TLC IMHO.

    U.S.M.C gun trucks?

If I may, how much did the .50’s cost?

    CUCV Tahoe Sour Grapes post

I paid $1,600 for my 1986 M1009. It had a few issues, all of which were fixed. The biggest PIT exhaust was the leaking fuel filter. Something tells me I won’t find anything close to that price, regardless of condition.

    M60A1 Tank - paint removal

If the tank has any radios, antennas or some such stuff, it doesn’t have lead paint. Lead paint on military vehicles, tracked, wheeled, rotary wing, fixed wing, etc., aren’t supposed to have any metallic paint as it will royally mess up your reception. A fairly simple, not to expensive way...

    U.S.M.C gun trucks?

Looks good. I didn’t weld my supports (don’t know how to weld yet) on either end. I drilled a hole and bolted both ends of the support rods. My aft mount isn’t satisfactory. I’ve been contemplating different options. I’ll get it fixed this year. As best as I can figure out, with those mounting...

    U.S.M.C gun trucks?

Looking good! When I made my first mounts for the equaliberator to fit on, they looked just like the ones you made. I had to add bracing to keep them from flailing around. Looking forward to your progress!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

The real mystery left to solve is what it was used for. I’ll save that one for a rainy day.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I researched the number 11640461. The last number isn’t very clear, so I’m guessing it’s a 1. Anyway, that part number crosses over to stock number 5120001067598. That stock number indicates that it is part of a 2 ton jack. I doubt it was made for the M35 but it could have been picked up along...

    U.S.M.C gun trucks?

S Sounds like a good plan. One thing that I did was cover the floor with Ammo cans. I got an outstanding deal on .50 cans from the local surplus store (no longer in business 😭). They were all “seconds” and they let me root through the stacks. 144 cans cover the whole floor. I’ve had them pretty...

    Are those tires 11.00 x 20’s?

    CHUCKY'S TREE HOUSE !

The scariest things I ever heard: 2 Lt, “I have a plan” Master Sgt, “check this out!”

    M720 or M832

I have a tow dolly(?) not too sure what it’s supposed to lift. Neither shelter I own can hook up to it. Until I saw this thread, I completely forgot that I had one. Guess I need to brave the snow, ice and freezing winds to get to its place of storage.

    My newest M35A2

Hi, Every year I volunteer to assist the local Toys For Tots campaign. IIRC this was my 11th or 12th year. Can’t remember for sure. Anyway the Coordinator for the county surprised me with the gift of a M35. I’m pretty sure it’s a M35A2 based on the exhaust. Absolutely beautiful workmanship! I’ve...

    Uses for Deuces

I do remember the inspection boots. They were kept in the wall locker in the barracks and only removed for inspection. As a Crew Chief, I was issued flight boots, which always looked like they were polished with a snickers bar. They took a beating! Whenever we had a formation, we’d get a can of...

    M52A2 5th wheel part

I believe it’s a thin plate, based on your description. Here’s a picture of the front of it:

    M52A2 5th wheel part

Not sure what you mean. I checked the part against the M52A2, The M818 and the 2 1/2 ton M35 series. It’s listed with all three trucks.

    M52A2 5th wheel part

Trying to find a source for a part on the M52A2 hitch. The part number is 7068245. The original stock number was 2510-00-706-8245. The updated stock number is 5340-00-706-8245. The same part is listed in the 2 1/2 ton parts book as well as being in the 5 ton manual. The reference for the 5 ton...

    Uses for Deuces

Wish I had them when I was still in the Marines. All we were allowed to wear were those garshdarned green wool socks. Add them black leather combat boots and it was a real pain, literally.

    War Wagon additional weapons (replicas)

As part of my attempt to recreate a gun truck to pay tribute to the men and women who served in the Vietnam War, I’ve slowly been adding details to make it appear to be the real thing. My latest acquisitions are reminiscent of the gun trucker’s “ditch guns”. Throughout the various references...
