I just looked over all the maintenance manuals and can't find the procedures for replacing the rear main seal. Anyone know the manual number and page where the procedure is located?
I seen this on another board and obviously this guy isn't a member here. I thought someone in the area might be able to help this fellow out. I did recommend that he post over here but I'm sure in the stress and frustration of being broke down he just wants to get it going again...
This is the civilian model that works. You'll have to change your fuel line going in because this one uses a hose clamp unlike the original. I've been running this for a year now and I have had no problems. http://www.autozone.com/external-engine/fuel-pump/airtex-fuel-pump/195693_0_0/
I figured someone would point out the fact that even a new seal can be bad so I just stated it before the fact. I have no problem with surplus seals but as I stated it depends on how they have been stored is the question. Anyway, I got a deal on a couple surplus seals that have good dates.
I think it depends on the location. I bought mine a few years ago from a batch of trucks sold out of Fairchild AFB in Spokane and all of them had hard tops. Also his interior is paint desert sand so if it went over to the sand box they most likely dumped the hardtop for a soft top.
Thanks this is what I need to know. As far as surplus seals, the only issue is how they are being stored. The shelf life on these type of seals is 15 years but can be longer if stored properly. However, a new seal can fail just as fast as a NOS seal.
Already asked a vendor and if its available at any other place than it must be under a different part number because I haven't found it anywhere else. This must be why $50 bucks is the going rate.
Are there any new production seals being manufactured at this time? I'd hate to go through the work of changing the seal only to have it leak because the NOS seal I put in there is over 10 years old.
Let see if I can explain myself better. I wasn't asking about adding IP/GP to have interaction with the company. My thought was in the "Government Liquidation/DRMO/GSA" section to add IP/GP to the header. In the section titled "Suggestions", add IP/GP to the narrative. Finally, in the "...
Since Iron Planet (IP) took over the rolling stock from Gov. Liquidators (GL), has it been discussed or mentioned about adding an IP section within the discussion section that GL is in?
I would suggest after you get it running to check your oil. The rubber diaphragms in the fuel pumps don't like ethanol. Since its been sitting your fuel pump diaphragm can be leaking fuel into your oil pan. I'm not suggesting this is your issue with it dying, just a word of advice after you get...
