Do you have a link stating this because I just did a search and it brings up manuals. It will only open manuals coded A. I have both the 1988 and 2006 version of the manual asked about and the 1988 is coded C and the 2006 is coded A.

Most likely the engine is from a civilian power wagon of the era. Check the head on the forward drivers side for T245 in the beginning of the number. If it doesn't start with it, then it is a civilian block.
Did the gentlemen that sold you the truck get it from GL or a private party? Who ever applied the tan paint didn't do a good prep job. The truck will look real nice when your done, keep up the good work.
Your best option is to find a reputable aircraft mechanic and have him do a pre buy inspection for you. He will know what to look for as far as documentation and overall condition. He should also be able to give you an idea as to the operating costs if you choose to keep it airworthy.
