I couldn't find a stock 850 radiator anywhere (except at Rick's place, and that one is locked in a vault, surrounded by armed guards with laser weapons). And some of the prices for them were crazy (like $1500 - $1800 if they were available). Even recoring of the existing unit, if that service...
Like ezgn suggests, start with testing for vacuum from the pump. The TM lists testing procedures for vacuum at the pump and the modulator. Also check for vacuum at the transmission connection. My pump did not fail, but I replaced it as a precaution. However, my modulator did fail. After I...
Well, got the radiator today, which was really a quick ship, since I ordered it Tuesday. She looks good and was packed well. All aluminum, including the tanks and has proper bungs for everything. All sizes seem correct for my fittings on the truck. Install will tell if everything goes...
THIS !👆. I just did all this myself, and with a really bad back and not great mechanical skills. With your new trans, after you do the above, she should run like new, mine did. And final adjustment is easy. Like Rick always says, "You can do this".
OK, I went out and got 3 estimates to recore my radiator. First two came in around $850 to $900 and the third one said I would have to take it out and he would have to look at it before he could give me an estimate. The first two places were within a hour of the house and the last one was even...
Thanks for the suggestion and I too prefer local, brick and mortar. However, none of those have an available radiator that fits our trucks. AND, if they did, the price is now $850 each. That's a lot of green backs for some aluminum !
So, I priced a re-core this week. Only two places near me (within an hours drive) will do it. Both are north of $600+, both places have at least a two month backlog of work and both only offer a 1 year warrantee. I think I am going to get it done, but cost wise is it not doable right now. I...
LOL !! Thanks for the offer. As you know, my wife would support that buy, as she really doesn't like my truck. Me, I really like my 1009 and plan to drive it just a bit more.
Check to see what NAPA, AutoZone or any other parts store has listed for your application. I believe for the 1008, the K30 is the same setup, but someone correct me if I am wrong. The drivetrains are really nothing special or different from a civi truck made in 1984. Make sure to get the...
Rick, if your willing to let one go, let me know how much you want for the one in the box, shipped. I think I'll install a new one and repair the old, since they are getting really tough to find these days !!
Yup, it's your truck, so do as you wish. 37's will require a decent lift and possibly other mods. That = $$$. Like CUCVRUS said, keep it stock, keep it simple. You could probably sell the heavier diff's for some decent money (depending on condition) and use that money to make your 09 better...
JP, your suggestion was a good one. Apparently, due to the thicker bases of the LED bulbs, when putting the incandescents back in, the clamping force was a little weak. Took out the offending sockets and did some slight manipulation of the socket metal and BAM !, let there be light. And now...
