Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Is your M220's serial number 711? Mine is also a 54 and is serial 638. Really makes you realize how few GMC were made compared to the M35's.

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

The brake system is pretty simple. When people think air over hydraulic they think of an overly complex system with a crap load of hoses and lines. In reality most of the large steel hard lines running in the frame are for the chassis vent system which is basically a closed loop that connects...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Forgot to add, Boyce did thousands of these power swaps over the years. Give them a call and speak with any shop guy and he'll tell you anything you need to know. Ask lots of questions on here too! Lots of guys on here who know more about the GMC's than people could have dreamed about years...

Trying to get two m220's running after a long rest

Great find! I am loving truck #2. It looks like they retained the 302 too, so that is very cool. What you have here is a very sound albeit a little bit jerry rigged drivetrain swap. NDT has it correct in that the tranny is a Clark 5 speed and the transfer is a Banjo 2 speed unit both from a...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

The top of the spring packs have rubber cone bumper pads on them that will contact the bottom of the frame. Should tell you just how much the front axle can articulate.

    First '52 XM211

You put a 2nd pair of top shackles on. Writing that one down, looks sweet. Got that down Dave? Next visit I need extra shackle mounts. Don't new tires make it sexy?!! Don't they? Don't they?

    GMC Air pak database

I am working with another parts house and parts guy who has been playing with AIR PAK's for 30 years. This guy is an old timer, super friendly and knows his beans. He said he can piece together a GMC rebuild kit for under $100. It will not include a new poppet valve unit. This is the piece on...

    My GMC, a little update

Thanks OF. I just assume get the Ebay rebuild kit regardless of how much it costs now. If ya need it ya need it ya know. :-P I have to call Memphis back again to check if they found the right fitting for me instead of the too small one they initially sent me. Worst case scenario I have the old...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Motor mounts are really easy. I was apprehensive at first. The trick it getting everything into place and finding a secure, long term way of keeping it there while you take your time making the mounts. When I put the 6.2 in I used a bunch of wood under the oil pan to support things. Then I...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

You going to scrub the engine and re-paint it before you stick it in there? Castrol super clean is the better version of purple power which is sort of a Castrol knock off. I put it in a pump spray bottle used for weed killer. Stuff is so powerful there's virtually no scrubbing required.

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Love it, you have some easy work ahead of you with no bed on. I got tired of playing twister under mine so I just ripped out all the driveshafts. When your 6' and 185lbs it makes working under the vehicle a joy. Still the occasional "motherfudger!!!" when I bang my big head. I had to cut...

    My GMC, a little update

Okay! A little update. Business has been great. Oiled the 6.2's cylinders a few days ago, soaked and cranked the motor over by hand for the 1st time since buying it. Cranks smooth, no seized pistons. Dumped 2 gallons of new Rotella in and a 2 quart Napa Gold Oil filter. Picked up 3 new tires...

Junker to Jewel pics - diamond in the rough...

For 2 years into it I feel I have made great time. I've had many other expenses along the way but was determined not to let life get in the way of my dream which was to drive a Deuce I built myself daily around town. Couldn't have done it alone. Course my buddy weiser helped too. :D I work out...

Junker to Jewel pics - diamond in the rough...

Who you callin a newb? :-P Bought at 18 years old in 2010. Shipped from Tucson to Yuma. Pulled and scraped the junkyard 455 Olds and Th400. Installed a like new surplus M998 motor (NA), 700r4, Np231 for a reduction box. Moved original transfer back 5". Original hard top from Alberta. Repaired...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Don't ask me why, but GMC used 6 huge 5/8 hot rivets on each GMC motor mount to frame bracket. And the bottom 4 are between the frame and leaf springs so getting to them would be really hard. Take a look at my thread and you can see the mounts I built. They sort of "step forward" to reach the...

Contemplating a Bobber! To do or not to do that is the question!

Ya have to shut yer pie hole or your going to make me want to get a 5.9 equipped vehicle. They really are one of the best motors ever made. I refuse to give out anymore of my "free" information. It will cost you pictures. :-P

    GMC Air pak database

That would be a negative buddy, BSI told me the kit they piece together for the 2500685 AIR PAK only contains soft parts. So no check valve or the big shiny control valve assembly which has a non replaceable permanant seals staked in place. I suppose depending on the condition of your AIR PAK...

    GMC Air pak database

Where did you find an M211 air pak kit? Everywhere I have looked has been out of them. I need one too!! That is cheaper than the 5 ton kits as a matter of fact.
