I too have used hockey pucks for body lifts in the past. What I learned is hockey pucks are made from hard brittle rubber that dry rots quickly, doesn't hold up to automotive oils and crack from pressure. They also have no flex, might as well use aluminum pucks.
Good Luck
FYI, hockey pucks don't hold up well over time. The hard rubber they are made out of tend to dry up and crack. If you are going through the trouble to put a Duramax in why skimp out on the body lift?
I've been paying attention to the threads about glow plugs and controllers as well as engine threads. I have been thinking about what I would like to do with my Humvee. I have a truck with a low mileage Duramax that I have considered for a donor in a conversion but I really don't like the...
Beside the obvious fluids being checked and changed, tires, general running condition, charging and starting etc., driving a perfectly good HMMWV for 1500 miles would be task. I'd rather drive it 1500 miles in the Baja than on highways across states at 45mph. And someone mentioned a chase...
Earlier today the quantity was 31. I noticed it was down by 15 later in the day. Maybe someone saw my post and stocked up on them to resell for a profit? I just purchased a later model Steering wheel from Mac Motors today. It was my first purchase I have made from the company. The stock...
I'm curious, why do you think it is used? It doesn't say used. I doubt anyone has 31 used KDS S3 boxes kicking around. Their website "about us" seems to indicate "Mac Motors distributed parts for AM General since 1980 and has been serving all branches of the U. S. Military ever since...
When I use the term "bolt in" it means without major modifications to make work. All 6.2 and 6.5 GM and GEP are basically "bolt ins". You are correct that different years may require different parts that also "bolt in". A Duramax conversion would be something that I would not consider a "Bolt...
I guess that is a possibility however it is the same "new" picture in the listing and it states he has 31 in stock. For $100-150 in savings I would probably at least make a phone call to find out.
I'm not an expert on the engines in the Humvee's but everything I've read anywhere dealing with the engines put the 6.5 GEP version at the top of the list for reliability and strength. If I were going to consider any "bolt in" replacement for the GM 6.2 or 6.5 it would only be a 6.5 GEP.
This is the best price I could find.... https://www.macmotors.com/Product/HUM/KIT-SMART-START-SYSTEM-BOX-%26-TSU/6500391
This one has a great description with tips. https://www.eriksmilitarysurplus.com/hmglplcoprco.html
My post has some terminology that may not coincide with the manual or your understanding. Specifically when I say "controller" I mean what ever device is controlling the power to the glow plugs. I don't specifically mean a device they call a controller vs the black control box listed in your...
Someone suggested in a PM that it may not work as I hypothesize. The suggestion is that the volt meter doesn't pulse during the warm up period before the engine is running. Not knowing exactly how the volt meter (actually charging meter) is wired in, it is possible that it is showing the what...
I'll take a guess. I asked about my volt meter pulsing after my engine started when I first got my HMMWV. I was told it was called "After Glow". Reading your questions and what you posted and based on my experience this is how I believe it works. The controller pulses 24v to the 12v glow...
Today I replaced the damaged valve on the winch. Here is the damaged valve.
After install
Whoever the hacks were that removed the winch bent the lines during the removal. The winch came with the missing line but I determined today the replacement line that came with it is the same as the...
