Here are a few photos. The new springs on the floor appear to have a 4" arch to the centerline of the bushing holes.
The old mounted, loaded (with a winch) springs appear almost flat.
I hope this helps. I may take a few photos after I get them installed. That may be a few weeks though.....honey...
My transfer case plugs were rounded. I too contemplated welding a big nut to them, however,I was fortunate enough to be able to get a good enough "bite" with a regular pipe wrench and get them out.
I am going to be replacing my front springs soon. I already have the new replacements.
I replaced the shocks about a year ago and had a helluva time getting them on, even when fully compressed.
My assumption was that the springs were weak. I am going to perform the caster fix to the upper...
Rusty,
I finally have completed my auxiliary tank installation using your design as a guide. I used the motorized valve that you suggested and it works great! I mounted it under my heater box on the drivers side fender. I mounted my check valves on the inside of the frame rail near the primary...
Rusty, I have nearly completed my auxiliary tank installation, using your design as a guide. I have been unable to locate a proper 3-way valve/solenoid for my project. That's really all that I have left to do on it. Do you have any additional information on the solenoid that you used?
Thanks!
Rusty,
I am finally getting around to adding my aux fuel tank using your method for switching.
I just have a question on the parking brake cable. What did you so with that? It appears that I could just run it over the top of the frame, instead of through the hole.
Any thoughts or ideas would be...
I have seen, but can't now locate, a diargam of the internal wiring for a M35A2 3 lever light switch.
Does anyone have a copy or direct me where to get one?
I finally finished my winch rebuild. The previous owner had the truck stored outside and water had leaked into the winch. The bearings were rusted solid.
I rebuilt it using parts from Big Mike's Motor pool. He was great to work with (as so mentioned by everyone here!) For some reason my winch...
Replaced my oil gauge, simple enough.
Removed and disassembled my locked up winch, found pinion bearings rusted.
Will begin the clean and rebuild as soon as i procure the bearings, seals and gaskets.
D2, Great project!
I see that folks have "subscribed" to you, but I'm not sure how to do that.
Give me some guidance on that if you can.
Also, I have read through all of the posts twice now and I didn't see anywhere, any details on the "crawl through" as you called it,
between the truck cab and...
Rusty,
Thanks again for the useful information!
I have a few more questions, if you have the time:
Do you have any manufacturer or part number info for the one-way vales and the 3-way valve that you used?
Also, i see that you used a low pressure gauge on each of your tanks. Do you have any info...
Rusty, I kinda thought that was your thinking, but just wanted to be sure.
Where did find that gauge and where did you tap into the brake line?
Nice installation with the bleeder on top!
Rusty,
Thanks for the informative post!
I see in one of your photographs, what appears to be a brake pressure gauge.
Why did you choose to install one? And what good data can you share about it?
Thanks,
Modiconman
