Hhhmmm - have you rebuilt the air-over-hydraulic pump? Sounds like it's aerating the fluid and that's causing the volume to increase and it's efficiency to drop off.
When you say it takes 40 pumps to retract the "cylinder" are you referring to the latch locking pin? If things are working as...
That is the factory CAT fuel filter. All those parts will be available at any CAT dealer - just bring them the engine serial number off the rocker cover.
Best to read the -10 manual and follow all it's guidance. There are a LOT of grease fittings. You will want to also read the -23P manual for all the annual and bi-annual services. Treat the air system with EXTRA attention and service the dryer regularly. The compressor's like to eat exhaust...
Yeah I've never had mine disconnect. But I've not seen the 100A unit disconnect or fail to run with the grid heater running either - the grid heater is on the 24v side and that's the less loaded side of the alt (compared to the 12v with all the lighting turned on). I think you have some serious...
What he was referring to is someone putting Shrader cores into the wheel valve stems on the back wheels. Normally the Shrader core is in the CTIS wheel valve but can also be installed into the tire valve stem. Doing so will prevent them from deflating (will still inflate).
Also - for the time being and for testing while you wait for a replacement - don't hesitate to connect the batt and load cables for the 12v and 24v respectively together with some bolts and nuts (and insulate them). As long as your batteries are charged and you don't connect them backwards the...
The one I got one in that thread is from this guy and cleaned up really well:

There's vendors here on the SS forum that have them to. You could check with @Suprman and @wheelspinner.
I just get the dryer cartridge from my local NAPA. They had the best price.
The major and minor kit if you need them are on Amazon or FindItParts or both.
The "service" is just the cartridge which only takes about 10 minutes. The rest of the stuff is as-needed but you should probably do a...
LBCD voltage drop should be about 0.5v or so. 1.0v is a lot. 1.6v is unacceptable.
12.6v is fully charged for a flooded lead acid battery so you are close there.
Not if it worked intermittently. Turning that stud will rip the tiny coil wire off the head of the stud and render the solenoid completely NMC (non mission capable). Once you do that it never works again or makes any noises - intermittent operation while hearing it click internally means the...
You should already have the top-of-the-line Haldex PURest dryer...... the MWM "upgrade" appears to be the Haldex/Bendix AD9 which is a very common unit but is NOT better than the PURest dryer. Not according to Haldex anyway. And you don't have the clamps for the AD9 because you don't have the...
Interesting - so your truck is in the 119k range serial and mine in the 117k range. My truck was built 05/08 and yours was built 10/08. The NIIN for the 8667 composite skid plate was issued on 10/09/2008 so the same month your truck was built...... missed the steel skid plate by just a handful...
There's not a lot of air movement across them if you get the system perfectly sealed, so they should last quite a while. Mine are still purple - may have lightened a bit but look OK to my eye. Given the manufacturer put nothing at all in the truck to protect them other than the main air dryer...
Interesting! I think that's THE FIRST difference we have found between our trucks eh Third? I don't have any evidence one way or the other on mine being original or not. Mine was missing the bolt through the skid plate and the cab lift mount but that only means the skid plate was removed at some...
Interesting. My skid plate (gravel/dirt/mud/water deflector as referred to in various TM and Fed-Log listings) is steel and quite heavy.
I find some references in PS magazine to the HIMARS getting swapped over to a composite unit. I'm told some trucks have the plastic/fiberglass skid plates...
That was me. It was just a post in a thread not a thread unto itself.

When it comes to A1R's there's not many people on here that own them and work on them.
I have since changed out the filters since those had...
