It sounds to me like you have corrosion or breaks inside the jacket of the battery cables. It’s not that expensive to replace them and eliminate that as a potential cause. I’ve bought a lot of old vehicles and have replaced many a battery cable. Bulldogger

I’d replace all your piping as a precaution. Make sure it’s high pressure power steering tubing, not fuel or oil tubing. I further recommend using fuel injection style clamps, instead of hose clamps. Looks good. I tried to make my own using flat stock to make a sort of open end wrench, but it wouldn't grip tight enough and wouldn't turn the piston. Then I used a C clamp and channel lock pliers. It was NOT pretty when I was done, but I got it done... Yours is much better than mine. BDGR
