bdhhhailey, +24 volts isn't an indication that your glow plugs are any good. only that they're getting voltage. Measuring resistance is the only good way to test them.
I had a problem with a failed cold advance switch that did exactly what your describing with white smoke that goes away as the engine warms up yet it still started OK. Right rear of the engine block easily accessed by removing the inside engine cover.
D6T, The other issue, and something not always present when looking at spec sheets, is all your military radios are wide band radios with with higher deviation than the commercial, narrow bandwidth stuff. While they will talk to each other on the same frequencies, the wide band radios overwhelm...
Frequency alone isn't the issue unless you want to operate the 524 in open squelch mode. And no one likes to do this unless they absolutely have to. If the MT1000 has a 150hz tone squelch then it will work, otherwise your SOL. Unfortunately I think the 1000 only has 151 and 156 sidetones. Why...
If you have at least 1/8" of the drain plug showing take a hacksaw blade and carefully hand cut a screwdriver slot into it and then work it out. Either that or use a pair of new vise grips with sharp edges and grab the head that way.
They really aren't that hard to take apart and clean and lube inside but if the roller bearing is nasty or the shaft that goes thru it is scored it's time for a new clutch. The friction material gets ugly but will clean up nicely and after you have a chance to look at it it's really only the...
One more time: The standard incandescent lights on most military vehicles draw a lot of current and this tends to arc out the contacts in the brake light switch making you press harder and harder over time to make them come on. In the HMMWV this is compounded by the fact that there is no free...
Gentlemen, Let's stay on topic here OK? Gear Report has quite a few of the manuals available online here: https://gear-report.com/humvee-manuals-download-hmmwv-manual-links/
I believe that the difference between the two alternators is in the regulator assembly. The 5102 has round pins connecting the regulator to the body and the 5104 uses spade connectors.
The engine connector can be found by Ebay searching "24 11S connector". Search 22 23S for the body connector. All the prefix stuff is a description of the housing and shell. The connector itself is either size 22 or 24 and the pin configurations are 11S or 23S (socket). MS3106 are straight...
Early on before HMMWV parts dealers were plentiful I used an aquarium airstone to vent the lines and still prevent water from getting back into the system. The thought of the "vampire" was the impetous for this. I installed it on the vent line that connected to the air filter housing after...
