    every 5 ton i've had (M818, M543) have had a larger airpack.

    Yep, you've got air in the system. 1) build a brake bleeder (pays for itself everytime I use it) 2) bleed airpack first, then go thru all cylinders bleeding thoroughly to insure no air. 3) Drive with confidence that you've gone thru your break system thoroughly.

    There are tons of articles on this site as well as the TMs needed to perform the tasks. This can be as simple as the axle flange gasket.

    M1008 or M1009?

    I have a 1008 and my buddy had a 1009. I'd have a 1008 over the 1009 any day. I use this truck all the time. It tows great, gets good fuel mileage and having a full size bed makes it super handing around the property.

    M-Gator overheating

    I took the 2001 M-gator for a spin the other day and it overheated and shut down. It has the Yanmar diesel engine. I found the water pump wasn't moving coolant. Come to find out, if it sucks in air (like opening the radiator cap :doh:) it will lose the prime in the water pump and not pump...

    So. Cal. scrap yards with M38 parts is kinda rare. The couple yards I know of don't have stuff that old anymore.

    My first Deuce.

    Bring tools. I had a couple fuel lines blow when I brought my deuce home for the first time. I'd be prepared for that. Duck tape is a must.
