The operating conditions between the genset and the airplane similar. Both run at fixed high RPMs for extended periods of time unlike auto engines that typically vary and are typically running lower RPMs while cruising. I would think the genset could benefit from aviation oil. The only problem...
I have a winch to go on that I am putting seals in and a parts winch. The clutch handle from the parts winch went onto the good winch. It seems the previous owner of the good winch felt the lever was bent up so they heated it up and straightened it. The "fixed" lever would interfere with the...
I think I will have to let it be. I really don't have the money and would probably talk myself into another money pit of a vehicle. Thanks for the heads up. I hope someone here gets it and does not chop it up.
So far my local parts store said they could have two of them for me tomorrow. I think they were the PTO side worm gear seal and the small PTO side drum seal. They found the big clutch side seal but were unsure as to how long it would take to get it. They also said they could not cross the brake...
I commend you for waiting until the title work is straight before starting the restoration. Many people do not then end up with a very expensive vehicle and no title. You did it the smart way.
It was tippy getting it on the rotisserie. My son Ty and I used a Hi Lo jack to get it up enough to slide the mounts into the frame. Not tippy at all right now. I need to weld some nuts on the top of the swivels so I can get infinite adjustment instead of just the predrilled holes. I have been...
I have checked OD IRON. I am going to check with my local parts store tomorrow. I did find the seals online for about $20 cheaper that OD iron without the selector shaft seal but I am hoping to have the stuff in hand by Saturday night.
It was pretty obvious the drum and case seals were leaking since the drum brake pad was soaked with GO and there was old GO on the inside of the drum where it should have been dry. The worm gear seals were not leaking but might as well replace them before reassembly. All the bearings and...
I got it out of the barn a few months ago. I was able to get my cab switched out on my F-350 so now I have the Mutt on the rotisserie and in the garage. I need to strip it down and blast before winter.
I know you sick guys were hoping it would be pics of carnage but they are not. I took my two winches apart today to check them out before install. I decided on which one to go with and took it apart. The only stuff I need area a drum lock and seals. I already have the lock and lever but can...
The AM-2060 amp does not boost the transmit output at all. Running the vehicle antenna will help over the small whip on the PRC77. There are amplifiers out there that you can get but the are separate from the AM-2060 unit that the PRC77 plugs into. I went with the PRC-25 and the AM-2060 vehicle...
The filter should be a fram PH-8A or the same filter as a small block ford V-8 from the 302 familiy. That is if it has the spin on filter conversion in place. I would assume so since you said you saw a number on it.
Since you got a clear bill of health from the experts then you should be good but I suggest getting an oil analysis once in a while to make sure the engine is healthy.
The one thing you must consider is it take twice the amps to turn the engine over when it is 12 volts. Does the 12 volt conversion still retain two batteries in parallel? The civy diesels still had two batteries to provide the power to push over the high compression diesel engine. I agree with...
There is a guy that makes battery packs for them that take D cell batteries.
Here is a link to his PDF catalog
Looks like he also makes 12 volt cigarette lighter adapters for them also.
