    help with basic problems

Did all of your lights work before you swapped the switch over? The signals and brake lights are actually a separate "gang" on the switch...so if they did work fine with the pushbutton one, then your lever switch may be the culprit...

    help with basic problems

Nice looking truck! Looks like there are 2 rams for the hydro steering? Must be using the vickers 5 ton pump. Don't let people whine about your hydro steering! It is not illegal, despite the rumors. Do, however, periodically inspect the health of the hoses, pump, fittings, rams, etc. One...

    Rockwell gear setup

I recently pulled my 3rd members out of my deuce (installed some donor 3rds with lockers in them). One of the 3rds I pulled out has significant play in the pinion shaft (both lateral and longitudinal, due to bearing design). I was going to pull this apart and correct the problem...but I can't...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Thanks for the reminder! I actually own a winch cable weight. Was I using it? No. The pulls were EXTREMELY easy, so I intentionally skipped it. But...you never know when a vehicle could shift and shock load a cable. Probably should have weighted the cables... On another note, I...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

The second locker is installed in the 3rd member and ready to go in the front tandem. If I can get an extra pair of hands over here, I plan to put it in tonight. And, on another note, when I dropped the front axle down last week to install the front locker I had to pull the old shocks. I...

Help on my MEP006A Generator ---- Switching the Voltage Card

Yes, you need to remove all 12 nuts holding the voltage card down and move it so that the arrows line up for the 240/416 voltage. Make sure all of the nuts are tight so you don't create a high resistance connection/fire/damage. And, it should currently be set to 120/208 (not 120/240 as you...

Anybody else running Spartan Lockers in their deuce axles?

I've been mulling this question over ever since you asked it...in my case it doesn't matter since I'll have 3 lockers eventually. But...what if somebody wanted only 1 locker in the back axles; which one should it go into? I can think of scenarios where a locker would be better in the front...

Anybody else on MEP power tonight?

I was on MEP power most of yesterday...entire house and entire shop. Got in some welding/metal fab time while running on the MEP too. Other people in the area were suffering in the cold and dark! Good feeling to have power no matter what, isn't it?

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Working on getting the 3rd member ready to go in the front tandem... In the meantime, thought I would post this video of a very short wheelin' trip we took on Christmas Eve. My family was all at my house and we needed a break from the indoor activities. Long story short, I got my Samurai...

Anybody else running Spartan Lockers in their deuce axles?

All 3 axles will eventually have spartans in them; I am doing the front tandem first because it has a bad pinion bearing, and it made more sense to just swap in a "built" donor 3rd member with a spartan in it than it did to try to replace the bearing while it was under the truck. Here is how my...

Anybody else running Spartan Lockers in their deuce axles?

Curious if anybody else is running a Spartan locker in their truck? Since this is a relatively new product, I'm just wondering if anybody else has had a ny good or bad experiences with the Spartan. People in the rock crawling world seem to like them better than the detroits. I have had the...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

OK; locker is fully installed in the front axle! I have installed lockers on quite a few different vehicles, so I do have a bit of experience with this procedure. I would rate the rockwell as being easier than most, as far as technical difficulty. Lockwire pliers and some lockwire were the...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Got one of the lockers installed in the chunk from one of my donor axles, and the deuce is up on jackstands. Front locker will be in by 11:00 tonight!

MEP operation and testing video thread

[thumbzup] Thanks! Yep...I actually did that several months ago. I was wondering whether or not to upload it, but I figured, eh. That's just part of the job! And...I got a good laugh out of it myself. It was lucky that I caught it on camera. The part that you can't see is that I hit my...

re-wiring my MEP-004a for different voltages, including single phase

Got it! I had a few minutes to drop some of those 50 ohm resistors across the secondary side of the CT; it worked out perfectly! According to the math, a 38 ohm resistor is the ideal size (a 40 ohm would be just about perfect). That would drop the meter readings by about 35%. Since all I...

MEP operation and testing video thread

No problem; basically, here's how you need to start your generator (this is a generalization of the instructions that should be inside of the control panel door): 1. Move the throttle to about the halfway position (push it all the way in, then pull it all the way out, then move it to about 1/2...

    Modifying and customizing MEP ASK

Pretty sure we already spoke about that one! But, just in case I'm confusing you with another conversation, yep, I do have a few spare parts, but I do not have that cable. [thumbzup] Thanks! I've never liked that "doghouse" design; always figured there must be a better way of doing things...
