Has anyone thought about converting to an electric air pump?

Did a little diggin' The factory deuce compressor is rated at 7.25 CFM. I was a little high in my guess, but the point is still valid...now that I have exact numbers, here is the math for the viair units: at 1.6 CFM, it would take 4.5 (we'll figure 5) viair 450c's to produce the same flow rate...

Has anyone thought about converting to an electric air pump?

My 2cents Biggest disadvantage I see is the total electrical power that would be required to match the deuce compressor's flow rate with an electric one. Viair compressors are GREAT machines for their designed use (I have installed 20-30 electric viair compressors and air tanks in different...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

I bought mine off of ebay and there was only one from that particular seller; for a few $$ more, there are a few other sellers with similar ones listed. Amazon also carries them: Amazon.com: Fox Dummy Grenade - Various Shapes: Sports & Outdoors

grenade shifter knob So...this is not really a big project, but I thought it was kinda cool so I figured I would put it up here. I have been looking for a good shift knob to replace the factory deuce one for a while. Nothing really jumped out at me until I saw an auction for a WWII surplus...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Thanks! I am a REAL fan of synthetic winch line in rock buggies...but I have experienced problems with it in some of my rigs. UV damage, mud, sand, rocks, etc. all take their toll and I have had a couple of synthetic lines snap when I needed them. Granted, I haven't tried out all of the...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Paint job! I've had the paint sitting around for a while...just got around to actually doing the work this weekend. I used 2 coats of a single stage paint in a Satin sheen, a couple of shades darker than the OD that was on there. I had the paint color matched to rust-oleum "hunt club green"...

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Thought I would post a few pics and a sum-up of my trip to the Oregon dunes... I drove from my place in Seaside down to our campsite, just north of Coos Bay (about 220 miles one way, took me about 6 hours) loaded with camping gear and my sandrail. The deuce worked perfect...and the weather was...

I didn't use that bracket...I built my own using some 1.75x.120 tubing and some 3/8" flat bar.

    Building Full hydro steering complete

I am running the same setup on my deuce; there is actually a tapered insert in the steering rod that adapts the taper to a straight 3/4" bolt. It works great. Nice work bobbed; enjoy it! Hydro steering is far and away the best single mod I did to my deuce...I'm sure you agree

No links on the winch; I got mine direct from Warn. They run about $2k without cable, fairlead, etc. A fully loaded one is around $4k. Not a cheap winch, but they are SUPER heavy duty and a lot of thought went into the little details on them. It is built like a tank! No spacers on the front...

That's what they told me when I ordered mine, too...but it was actually about 2 weeks from my order date until they were on my doorstep.

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Next project: I have a Warn 18 series 24v winch that I will be mounting under the bed. I have a series of rollers and fairleads that I will set up so that the cable can be routed out the headache rack for sideways pulls or to winch something up onto the bed, or routed directly out the back of...

    AVM or Selectro Hubs

I bought a set from Summit Racing a few months ago; I was told at the time that they were about a month out, but they were on my doorstep in about 2 weeks. Been running them on my deuce for at least 3 months.

All the stuff I did to my deuce, right here

Back to a little tech; I have been running these locking hubs for several months now (including the road trip to the mudfest, and in the event itself). I haven't noticed any huge change in fuel mileage or power (although I am sure there is some). They have held up fine through some serious...

my deuce will be on spike tv tomorrow!

That video was just some amateur clips that warn threw together for their blog...none of the professional high speed stuff made it into the youtube video. Still some cool shots though, and the golf cart at the end cracked me up

my deuce will be on spike tv tomorrow!

thanks for all the [thumbzup] I know it was just a few seconds of a short commercial, but it was pretty cool seeing a rig I built show up on national TV

my deuce will be on spike tv tomorrow!

Warn did a photo/video shoot the day after mudfest 2011 in Sweet Home, OR. I managed to get an invite to the photo shoot as an anchor point/recovery truck. But, I pulled off some good 6 wheel drifts in front of their high speed camera and their marketing guy notified me yesterday that they...

my deuce will be on spike tv tomorrow!

My deuce will be on spike tv tomorrow morning 4/16; it is just a warn commercial during the 11 am EST showing of extreme4x4. Not sure what footage they used, but I'll bet it was one of the 6 wheel drifts. I guess an additional commercial and a 3 min mini-feature will also air in the coming...
