So what parts exactly need to be changed? Just the *cover* to the timing case is easy according to the TM. Couple hoses and tubes and a bunch of bolts and it drops right off the front. But I suspect you mean the timing *case* which is what always breaks on the A0 trucks because the driveline...
Which engine? (year, serial number, A0/A1/A1R, etc).
Have you considered which generation you want? There are significant differences between 1993 and 2008 (newest 1079 that I've seen on the civilian side).
OEM AC is a job. Took me a year in total before I charged it and had it operational.
I would order the hubs - never know when the demand will fall off and time between production runs will increase. We have seen it with other stuff like aftermarket shocks, etc. The people that want them snap...
Both of the black controllers and even the green controller will talk to the diagnostic software with J1708. It's only the later black controllers that will speak the faster J1939 protocol. They all interface with the software - as far as I know even the A0 one's do if you acquire or build the...
The A1 and later trucks all use the same controller since they all use ECM controlled engines. The early one's were green and the later ones or replacement units are black.
Read through my recent thread first. You can find the Dana controllers pretty cheap on ebay, etc and they are pretty decent actually. More rugged and environment proof for sure and with the diagnostic software and their ability to output fault codes, etc I find they work well...
Can confirm the EFI engines will roll coal till they get some heat in them. Not much, but it's there. And the C7's have HUGE catalytic converters inside the muffler assembly. They definitely want to get the engine up to temp as quick as they can (excess fuel can damage the converter) and...
I do 80+ in my 370 HP M1079 without issue. My tires are 2021 manufacture though. With ECO hubs and the speeds they are capable of..... I don't know of a single ECO hub customer that hasn't at least tried it to see how fast the truck is now. Saying you should NEVER go over 70 in these trucks is a...
Yeah I would not want to be party to an at-speed blowout. Lost mine at an off ramp at a dead stop and had to drive 1/4 mile to where I could stop and change it. Whole lotta NOPE. My tires were 2008 MV/T's - original to my truck.
Actually yes - sort of. I have a friend that was a contractor over in the sand box and was doing some of the very first installation of the LSAC (Low Signature Armored Cab) on the A0 and A1 trucks. On one of his first test drives with an M1078 LSAC he did a brake test and the rear end of the...
Just drive to an old school locksmith and have a key made. Should cost about $25. $5 for a copy if you have an original. Every locksmith should have blanks. They are Trimark locks - used on millions of motorhomes and RV's. Extremely common.
People ask big money for trucks with these - like MME - $250k for their A1P2 M1083 and I know of an armored A0 M1088 for $150k.
But what I don't see is any buyers lining up to pay the asking price.
Go ride in one sometime. In the civilian world they are a solution looking for a problem and...
You can modify the PPM from the transmission to suit the CTIS controller with one of these:

If you want to figure out your own mounting, etc and don't mind it being clear plastic instead of blackout plastic - this is the same thing from the same company:

Valid. But there's going to be plenty of surplus and used on the market for the foreseeable future. The A1P2's still being produced by Oshkosh are using the same NSN that he purchased.
Also it's an entirely non-essential system so while it would be convenient to order something from Autozone...
