Transfer case upgrade to a XM818

Huge congrats! Upgrades make something good, better. Also pleasant to hear she had power to pull 70mph. I’m jealous, I have not been there yet, even downhill! Tip my hat to ya’.

    Oil pressure averages

Your pressures are fine. 8.3L oil pressure is nearly identical to a 350 Chevy. 10psi per 1000rpm is plenty. The stock MV electric oil pressure gauge is terrible in accuracy, resolution, and reliability. It really just confirms it is not zero. But at least for an 8.3L, if it has oil, it will...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Cool. You’ll be able to record me pulling away from you. Then you can watch it over and over again. :driver:

Hemtt wheels and CTIS on an M923a2

Same here. Mine works, and I wish to keep it that way.

CTIS - why so finicky ?

Love mine. Works perfect. Broke a front valve stem completely off running a car over, CTIS run flat mode kept it fully up the entire drive home. Went flat overnight. Week later put new valve stem in, started the truck, and it fully aired up. I have never put a tire chuck on any of my wheels...

Hemtt wheels and CTIS on an M923a2

I’m kind of watching this thread, because I bought 2 HEMTT rims for the front of my 9 when switching to 16’s in the spring. I have not looked at anything yet, but why can one not simply move the CTIS assembly over to the HEMTT rim? If it does not fit, use a HEMTT CTIS valve or make a bracket...

    Drivetrain noise?

All I ever hear are envious drivers rattling next to me.

CTIS - why so finicky ?

It’s flaky because it is almost 30 years old. It’s flaky because system comprehension is low. It is something new in civilian hands with a low/small knowlesge base to support it. It is not required, so people yank the connector vs take time to understand it. It’s flaky because it has low...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

That is a bad design on the 6CTA8.3. For the next generation of that engine (ISC/ISL), they went to this: Not sure why the bolt head is not up against the manifold flange. Must be a heat transfer, thermal expansion, or vibration concern. Tempting to use stainless bolts or studs, but they...

SAE #1 vs SAE #2 Housing Visual Comparison

Thought this may be useful to anybody with any vehicle contemplating a difference of SAE #1 to SAE #2 engine flywheel housing and transmission clutch / torque converter housing patterns. There are numerous dimensional prints available online to describe such. These are clutch housings for an...

Trans rear support mock up. Fits so far. Is adjustable height with spacer plates, etc... Second pic is one installed. M939 trucks set the engine and trans to the far right to clear the front driveshaft, so I may need to cut the right side of the spring support and add a frame bracket...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

We’re just having fun. No big deal. Most all of my posts show edited because iPhones are made for 13 year old girl fingers, and even if you do know how to spell it won’t look like it.

Cross country moving with a 5 ton/ need suggestions

Cell phone and a debit card should be all you need.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

You should be used to seeing my tail lights by now. Simp knows what turbocharged tail lights look like too. Is an eternal filter like the “forever” stamp at the post office?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Ah yes, the eternal transmission filter. One would think you would never need to change that? Just kidding buddy. I was watching Beavis and Butthead reruns this morning.

Trans rear support mount came in. I think I bolt angle iron in on each inside of the frame rails to support this. Still have to study that.

Grabbed a new clutch pedal pad for the hydraulic master cylinder, 2010 Freightliner Cascadia. Dealer wanted $70 for the hydraulic clutch hose to include the proprietary clip, not sold by itself. NFW. Over to BMW dealer being they are both German, and away we go, in stock, same part, same use...

Good eye! Gone. Too bad it won’t fit in your PM box. Fuller ran 2 air lines to their shift knob (one for range selector, one for splitter) silly rabbit. I ran a single line to shift knob, then split it. This split should really be internal to the knob channels, whatever. Test shift with...
