Oh, BTW just thought I'd mention today marks a milestone for aviation. As I sit at my desk I'm looking at the 787 taxi out for it's first flight. What advances we have made over the years.... We used to beat metal into shape and come up with a new aircraft in a month, now we glue it together...
That's what I thought. Kinda makes importing a tank not so much fun. Half the fun of owning an armored vehicle with a cannon is being able to leave the gun pointed at your liberal neighbors house:twisted:. (Of course I've NEVER done that myself)
Was just reading this thread and one question crossed my mind. What are the current ATF import restrictions on weapon systems installed in MBT's? I've herd that nowdays it's not possible to have even a de-milled gun installed in a tank or other armored vehicle. When I imported my stuff the...
Great vehicle!!!:-D Fills all of my vehicle requirements.
Burns dinosaurs at an alarming rate, makes noise, and upsets my neighbors.
What you need now is a big DSHK for the gun mount on top.
Yeah, that's the one. I really like the footage of the 20mm turret and the 90mm turret firing:twisted:. If I get some time soon I'll try and get it posted.
Rory,
Was looking for more pix last night and came across a VHS tape from Cadillac Gage (promo video for the V-100). Good film of it swimming, driving, shooting, etc. Do you already have it? If not I could have it converted to dvd and post it on Youtube.
Rich
srodocker,
I actually keep the BRDM in my hangar in Olympia. Ran out of room in Tacoma. Now I've run out of room in the hangar. Vehicle rich:-D.......Storage poor:cry:
Just thought I'd throw in my 2cents worth, but it always seems more fun when someone else takes their amphib MV swimming. Everyone tells me that when I get the BRDM finished I have to take it to the lake (Washington) and go grinding around. All I can think of however is 1 lake + 1 BRDM = 1...
Back in 96 when I bought my Fox and BRDM from Budge in England I remember he had two of them for sale. If I remember right the price was in the 30-40K range. I really wanted to get it but figured ATF approval would be impossible. With offers "well into the six figures" maybe I should...
Did this V come from Larry in Puyallup, WA.? If so then I might have some before pix. I remember looking at it years ago but couldn't afford it. Then later bought the one Derrick is restoring. Of course after buying it I found out how expensive parts were and never did anything with it...
That'd be a great project for sure. I'd buy it in a heart beat if I could live to be about 120 years old. (so I could finish all my other projects), and find a place to store them, and maintain them, and......
I work with him and know he's busy. But, work is progressing I'll give him a call and tell him to post more pix. BTW his restoration of the turret (not to mention the rest of the vehicle) is flawless. When I sat in it the cadmium plating on the nuts and bolts burned my retinas out!rofl
If you're trying to keep it original EZFEED has the right idea. It is a common fuel pump and anyone that carries GAZ or UAZ parts should be able to help. One name that comes to mind (in your neck of the woods) is Bob Grundy. I think he had one at one time but I havn't spoke to him in a while...
As far as Washington state goes it's just a matter of taking it to the state patrol for an inspection and then applying for a collector vehicle plate (I've done it with my Ferret and Fox). Or, what I do with the BRDM is get a trip permit whenever I want to drive it. The real problem is getting...
I thought it looked familiar. Up to about a year ago I ran a helicopter repair station and had the contracts to maintain several helicopters operated by a couple of sheriff departments (Snohomish being one of them) and got the bullet hole story from one of their deputies. I also know the guy...
