Need to know what these 60 amp alternators are and from what.

rickf, search for AMA5104 and you'll find a link back to Southern Automotive, the current manufacturer of both Prestolite and Leece-Neville alternators. Heres a link directly to that page...

Fuel delivery issue M1123 ,Crank no start .....help?!

Got to agree with Mogman about gummed up components being a function of JP fuels. When I originally got my truck 20 years ago the wreck had been sitting behind a Cal Fire station for over 5 years and who knows how long it sat at DRMO before that. After it arrived in San Jose it sat for another...

Brass Cooling System Elements Removal Issue

6 sided "Flare Wrenches" are designed to prevent this from happening. Originally designed for use on tubing they work wonders on anything made from softer metals like brass. They're also available as crows foot wrenches.

No tools required radio shelf removal

I used 3/8" aircraft quick release pins on my radio shelf to do this and attached keepers to them so they wouldn't get lost. They can be expensive but they work really well.

    Countersunk bolt removal

Try finding a hex impact bit for one of these drivers! Good luck. PB Blaster is great stuff but I prefer Kroil. It's never let me down.

Fuel delivery issue M1123 ,Crank no start .....help?!

The fuel shutoff solenoid has a bad habit of sticking if the truck sat for a long time and the fuel in the bowl dried up. Before I jumped into a new IP I think I'd work to verify the solenoid isn't stuck closed.

    Are 6TL Batteries worth it?

After years of having Interstate 6Tls fail after a little over 2 years (their warranty period) I gave up and now run 24F batteries in mine. Same CCA, fit in the same battery tray and allow them to be end to end cleaning up the battery wiring nightmare AMG created.

    Antenna Mounting

There are heavy duty Harris stainless steel mounts being offered on Ebay that were meant for larger antennas like these. https://www.ebay.com/itm/352581687754?hash=item52178199ca:g:EpEAAOSw~RFa-1Jy Even though the antennas look cool, what are you planning on using it for? These antennas were...

saving military communications gear at hamfests

Maddawg, Your "colorful knobs" receivers are GRR-8 receivers that are a part of the PRD-11 Direction Finder Set. There are 4 tuning heads that interchange to give it a .5 - 500 Mhz tuning range. The manuals are all online for the set. I have all 4 tuning heads and an extra .5-30 head. Do...

    Horn doesn't work

True, the stock horns suck! I originally thought about air horns but then where does the compressor go? I ended up with a 24v Federal Signal siren from a Navy police car that has an electronic air horn that will also rebroadcast the radio thru the speaker.

    Horn doesn't work

Take a look at the side of your steering column up under the dash. You'll see a connector on the side that's the ground return line from the horn. If you ground that connection and the horn blows your wiring is OK and the problem is in the colums or the horn button itself. There's a beryllium...

    Shakespeare SF-3512 (Harris RF-390) problems

This is a note to anyone that's experiencing problems with the SF-3512 antennas on what we've found. It's a great broadband antenna that's usable from 30 - 512 Mhz on newer military vehicles that bolts directly into most of the standard antenna brackets. We've been experiencing issues with...

Anyone Know much about the prc-138 and the rf-5022

Hi Joe, I'll check QRZ and see if they have a phone number for you and I'll give you a call. I'm currently running my 138 in my HMMWV 996 ambulance and love it. I have several AT1011s but shipping would be a killer! Kurt KG6KMJ papakb@yahoo.com

Anyone Know much about the prc-138 and the rf-5022

That's an RF5833 150 watt amp for the 138, not a 5022. Unfortunately without a firmware change it won't work with it. We researched all this about 3 years ago. The 5833 amp is basically the same as the RF-5033 that will work with the 138 but Harris changed the firmware and now it will only...
