The shelter was part of the Pershing 1a missile system. None of the wiring remains however, all the canon plug connectors are still there. There was some type of air conditioning inside but it’s long gone. I’m using it for project storage. My favorite part is the launcher. Here some pics:
I have a missile support shelter. I’m going to have to dig out the info on it again. It’s still about 50% outfitted as it was originally, minus all the black boxes but one.
Got some catching up to do. Been sand blasting many parts. Also got the driver side door hinges out. With the rust on the pillars, I want to disassemble as much as possible to look for any other damage. The lower hinge was a bear. I broke an easy out and had to use a Dremel tool to dig it out...

My daughter and son-in-law volunteer at the depot museum every week. They got up front views of the whole shebang. I think they “live streamed” the whole event. Not sure what live streaming is but they had a great time.
Between the snow, migraines and extensive honey do list, I got very little done this week. I did get more sand blasting done. I prepped a bunch of parts for primering. I’ll just keep plugging along... found some pretty disgusting rust on the pillars. I’ll post better pics and show the before and...
Still plugging away at the sandblaster. Getting the parts cleaned up then primered and ready to reinstall. Nothing new to photo. It’ll be a couple days before I can get back to the truck. Spring brings out the honey-do list.
More sandblasting completed. Got the battery mount cleaned as well as the fire extinguisher mount. And finall, the rear axle bumpers. All ready for paint. Pics: note, I’ll add the battery mounts later. Forgot to take the after sandblasting pictures.

Got the emergency brake removed. There’s a screw on the brake shoe assembly that is an adjustment point. It also has to be removed to get the brake drum off. Took Vice Grips to finally get the screw off. Now to find or make a replacement. Anyway, I blasted the drum with the sand blaster cabinet...
. I have considered using elephant snot paint remover. It’s great stuff. The problem is the smell and the chemicals in the stuff. I spent too many years working as a helicopter mechanic. Any more exposure is a bad thing. Thank you though for the suggestion and kind words!
