While building a 2002 NAVSTAR 6.5 Diesel Optimizer, I tried to find some new TTY Main Bearing Cap Bolts and couldn’t find any. GM dealer said they are discontinued. Anyone having this problem too?
UPDATE:
It’s been almost 2 years since the swap. Odometer is at 71,000 original miles. I have given this 700r4 hell. From extreme high elevation mountain off-roading to low Moab desert terrain and towing several times.
700r4 Temps have peaked from 180-240 degrees several times while long hill...
MT REVIEW:
So I have ran the 37/12.5/R16.5 MT tires for about 10 years. I have tested them in all types of terrain and would like to share my experience with them. 3 of 5 star rating.
1. Longevity. They last a very long time as they are a hard rubber compound. I do not recommend airing these...
I live not far from you. I have a lot of trails locally in mind that you would enjoy! Send me your number in PM and we can go hit up a trail this next weekend!
On Sunday the 21st we left Montana early morning and camped at Willard Basin.
On Monday we arrived at Moab and had a night on the town.
Tuesday we hit Fins and Things and Hells Revenge. I almost rolled it on Hells Gate and Got the rear bumper stuck into the sandstone preventing me from...
Yeah totally agree! it would look like dog poop! Lol! I got the set listed on marketplace. If they don’t sell, I’ll put some studs on them and they can be the winter set.
I scored a set of nice vintage mag steel 16.5 rims for only $50 and the new 37” MTRs for $640. I cleaned the rims up with CLR and a scrubber pad and DAMN! They are nice! So I’m thinking…
Would Camo and White Steels look good together?
Yeah, she would probably hate the Blazer for life if that happened lol!
My black leather bucket seats that I had years ago wore out. I found these OEM K5 Blazer seats in a junkyard about 3 years ago for only $100. I’ve been keeping my eyes out on Marketplace for a nice bench seat so I can ditch...
Got a couple more goodies on the way! Should have ordered them months ago so I could install them in time for the coming trip.

A few years ago some cracks in the floor developed where the passenger seat bolts to. I don’t want the wife’s butt falling out of the Blazer floor, as hilarious as it would be, still would not be good. I asked our shop welder if he wanted to make some extra side cash and he was more than willing...
Thanks for the info. I’ll for sure invest in those brackets sometime after the trip next week. Speaking of which, here’s photos of gear I always take with me.
A good friend of mine once asked why I take soooo much stuff. So I took his advice one trip and we went wheeling in Moab and he broke...
Last night I replaced the leaking driver side valve cover gasket. It was leaking so bad that I thought it was coming from the oil cooler lines at first because the oil was going down the motor onto the oil cooler fittings. I used a cork gasket and the right stuff this time to hopefully seal it...
its the wire that pushes in the nipple on the passenger side alternator. I remember putting it on after the 6.5 swap but I think my fan might have ate it somehow and now I can’t see any broken wires coming from the wiring harnesses.
I’m scratching my head wondering what side harness the passenger side alternator exciter wire comes out of that turns on the Gen Light… It like… Vanished!
anyone got a pic? 🤔
Yes sir! There is a small noticeable difference with less vibration at idle and while driving. More noticeable with the downshifts and up shifts. Feels more firm.
Most of the drivetrain vibrations got fixed with the ORD motor mounts.
Darn it! I had 2 of those! I think I sold one for $200 and...
Going threw the todo checklist making the M1009 ready for the Moab trip planned the end of this month, I installed a new set of polyurethane transmission cross member bushings, got the front driveshaft refurbished and a spare front driveshaft made.
