I know you have most likely checked,but make sure the trans is not overfilled,I know on my M915A1 even just 2 quarts overfilled made a 20 to 30 degree difference in the trans temp after I switched it over to Dextron 3.

Further update, I cleaned the spare carb up and cleared out all the jets,installed it on the bike and it runs like a champ,starts easily,idles smoothly,and accelerates as it should,I have the primary carb off for a complete rebuild and hopefully I can swap it back on this weekend. I may make a...

Well,I spent this afternoon working on the KLR,got everything back up to specs(brakes,lights,tire pressures,front fork pressures,etc) got it cranked and rode it around the yard a little while,here's a few pictures.

Given I get Shell Rotella 15W40 by the 55 gal drum,it only runs me about $11.68 a gal after tax,i'll stick with that.
