Great Read on your blog my M1078 is a 95 not a 98 found out today. After reading all this I hope mine is as clean as 2800 miles should be? I will start a tread like you did to record the progress. I put yours in Favorites. Mark
Did not know it was a Diesel was not up on the newer Chevy engines that is what you get for being old school. I do know my Dodge 2005 Hemi had the starter quit on it. It has the reduction starter. I found one bolt missing from when they put a new clutch in it for me!! When I tried to put one in...
I know not a big deal to some but I have been sitting in my chair waiting for this CD and it was lost in the mail. Now I can start informing myself on a lot of stuff before it gets here. Supposed to be picked up by the shipper today or tomorrow. Should get the Title any day now to put it in my...
I have tore the starter in haft racing off road in my 75 heavy 1/2 ton 350 block nose diving it off a jump that stopped the truck. The bolts held no problem just busted the nose off the starter. I have never had a problems with starter bolts on my Chevys and I have a 468 in my 1 ton 79 4x4...
I have to agree on buying one for lug nuts. Mine is used for my loader frame and other types of bolts. I use my 120VAC impact on lug nuts. I going to look into the Milwaukee 3/4 drive that may really come in handy on my M1078 truck. I went out and collected up my Metric Socket and wrenches I...
Not Military but my TH400 Automatic transmission runs cool all the time thru it's cooler only. It only gets into the Yellow Range when I pull a long steep hill and have to use a heavy throttle to keep the speed up. I have a manual cooling fan I can kick on if needed. You do want your...
I will look at my Torque Wrench and see. I have 4 different ones. Only my biggest would be for Lug Nuts. I do have a mechanical advantage socket driver for 1" drive. I only use it to loosen stuff because you can over torque real easy with one!!
That is easy to figure out by looking. Your not going to rebuild your engine on the side of the road and a lot of other things require parts being ordered. So get your tool box out and start looking around at what you may have to repair. Belts, hoses, electrical, lighting, brakes, clutch...
Well I feel anything can be fixed or corrected by knowing what may happen. I have a 79 Chevy Pickup with a 454 in it 4x4 1 ton Dulley. 13 years owning it and still no real problems. The Transmission failed from sliding backwards down a icy hill. I had to ditch it to stop it and the 11,000 lb...
Boy the more I read the more stuff I need to check. Seems it might be a good idea to check the Torque on all moving parts, brackets, total fan blade inspection, driveshaft inspection the list is long. Be interesting to know are these problems showing up in low mile trucks or only high mile use...
Here is a link to some great prices on 600 ft lb Torque Wrenches. I have a 600 ft lb one for my Loader Bolts on my tractor now it will have more uses. Torque Wrenches
Found out last night it the Huricane stopped the shipper!! EBay/Mailman Lost my Manuals on a CD still trying to figure where they are. Supposed to be delivered but not at my house. Seller said he would send another. Glad we have stuff to read here makes it easier to wait for it!
Ended up...
I am going to buy a 12VDC to 120VAC Converter big enough to run my 120 VAC Milwaukie Impact Driver. Not sure what the load is but it is not that high. Air Tools eat up a lot of air. The Load is 7 amps so a 1200-1500 watt converter would be enough to run one. Doing it this way you hook it to one...
Oil or Transmission Fluid that will be my question to get good answers on. Napa has a great price on Synthetic Oil for diesels I run it in everything now. I will be changing the works out after I get it and know for sure when, type, and no water in it. Fluids are cheap compared to repairs.
Who knows if they get my breathing better the pain is less might get over the pass on day. Like to drive thru Roy lived there for about 5 years had a lot of fun off road on the Military Reservation and Mt Rainier Camping near you. This M1078 is what keeps me going looking forward to doing stuff...
My Tractor Tires weigh over 850 lbs each filled with liquid much taller and wider. You learn how to not over jack them up and have a flat bar to work them on the lugs. One trick is to work them in a twisting motion to move them away from the hubs a little at a time. Had to add Wheel Spacers to...
My Bad I thought you meant Chelan but the Town your talking about id closer to 400 miles away from me. I can't drive that far any more with out a lot of pain doing so. Sorry I have been cheated out of a lot of fun things with COPD and 68 years old. Wrong side of the Cascade Mountain Range. I...
On my M37 I gutted the original Distributor installed a 12 vdc coil out side of it and went to standard 12 volt wires and plugs. I used the Rotor and cap from the stock set up. Been about 20 years since I did that but it worked great and saved me a bunch of money. I don't mind Points it is Old...
