    Another MEP003 is alive

I remove all the tubes and the fuel gage and float switch, plus the bottom drain. cover the holes with tape ( you can also wipe a little grease in the threads to help with cleaning. Once the epoxy has stiffened up, but still tacky I clean all the threads with acetone and a small wire brush and...

    Another MEP003 is alive

On the fuel tank, the ONLY way to go is Caswell Plating's 2 part fuel tank epoxy. I've used it on at least 8 tanks, some with holes the size of a pencil and had 100% success every time. The first tank has been in use for about 10 years and still perfect. Clean the tank out good, dry it out...

Mep803a Cranks but won't turn over

FYI, on an 803 I typically use group 34's. They fit very well. Group 26 is non-standard for your machine, but whatever fits and works with the hold-downs will get the job done.

Let me see if I can contact you. If you are unfamiliar with the PM message system, look up near the top right corner of the page and click on the envelope next to your name. New members can't initiate a PM at first, so I will try contacting you, otherwise a Moderator has to forward your message...

    MEP-804A Diode Ring Destroyed

You can get bolts from places like McMaster Carr, I used to get locally at Warwick Industrial Fasteners. But to tell you the truth, Tractor Supply is also a good place. They carry a full range of grade 5 and grade 8 coarse thread. If you need Metric or fine thread you may need to search on-line...

    MEP-002A Cranks but won't start

PM sent about looking at your injectors. Before sending them, have you checked your IP or at least verified you are getting fuel to the injectors? If the machine has been sitting a long time there is a good chance the plunger guide in the IP may be broken. Give us the history on this machine and...

    MEP-802A Voltage regulator question.

If it's a reset the tag will be riveted on right next to the original tag. Also 99% of the resets are Tan. not that it really matters. I've had units with 2 hours and units with 6000 hours and it's often hard to tell one from the other just based on performance! If you have a camo colored...

    Mep-804 over voltage

Have you tried this more than once? On the 804 I believe it should stay running after an overvoltage fault. Maybe you didn't hold it long enough for the oil pressure switch to close. I think first you should ( if you haven't already ) is make sure it will start, stay running and that it trips...

Anyone have issues bonding to Behr paint with adhesives?

So to elaborate on the bare metal a bit, the correct way to use Windshield Urethane is to strip the glue flange to bare steel, prime it with brush on windshield primer then use your urethane adhesive over that. The Urethane is also not really meant for raw glass either, the glass should be...

    MEP-802A Voltage regulator question.

I'd suggest turning it by hand, either by the fan blade or a socket on the crank bolt, just to be sure the cylinders aren't rusted stuck, before attempting to crank with the starter and / or dead crank switch.

    MEP-802A Voltage regulator question.

With the exhaust flap missing, rust in exhaust and milky oil, hopefully you checked to see if the motor turns freely? Missing exhaust flap is often a sure sign of a stuck motor. ( rain goes right down into the cylinders ) Make sure she spins freely 360* before you hit the start switch. But as...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

L.I.T.D, I believe most of your Gen business has typically been 803's right? Is your Leaf Blower unit acting much worse than other 802's you've seen or are you comparing it to a typical 803? There is a night and day difference between what happens when you open the oil cap or pull the dipstick...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Jeff, it sounds like you have decent compression. I think in the past I found anything over 250 is fine. Once you get down around 200-225 you start having starting issues, like smoking for 30 seconds to 1 minute until heat builds up a bit. If she starts good and doesn't continue to smoke ( gray...

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

If it starts up on its own during a lightening storm, ( especially without a remote start installed ) then I'd lean towards Demonic Possession... otherwise maybe just stuck rings? How's it sound when cranking? does it crank abnormally fast?

    MEP-803A cranking cylinder pressure

Jeff, on the 802/803 the crankcase vacuum is created through a small tube in the corner under each valve cover. the tubes connect the intake runners into the rocker area, which then draws from the crankcase through the pushrod tubes and the oil drain passages. Did you check your crankcase...
