    Big truck ins?

gvw Rene, Be careful with that, my understanding is GVW in the Texas vehicle code is defined as empty weight plus manufacture's rated payload. That would put you at more then 30,000 lbs GVW, well over the 26,000 limit. (One more reason I should never even think about buying a wrecker )

    NDT Replacements

I'm running the 11.00 x 20 G177's as well (all 10). Much nicer on the highway, much easier to steer in the parking lot, haven't tried them off road yet. When I installed them, I also stripped and painted all the wheels, from the 3 riveted ones (with a million coats of paint) to the two with a...

    Exhaust pipe gaskets

I used some high temp silicone repair tape (x-treme tape, but there are other brands) around the joint before I put the clamp back on. No leaks so far.

    Gauge repair question

I just pulled mine out of the dash and thoroughly cleaned the outside (including the translucent plastic cases), and polished the outside of the lenses. This made them look 100% better, not new, but certainly legible and as good as any other part of the truck. Combined with cleaning the dash...

    HOA booted the Deuce

Oddly enough, one of the reasons I live in central Houston, no zoning and the deed restrictions expired about 50 years ago... (I think the polite term is neighborhood in transition.) But, the property supervisor (ie: wife) has declared a moratorium on additional grass coverage... (can't really...

    New M35A3 Questions

a3 style air asist intalled on my a2 I've got the a3 style air assist kit installed on my a2, and the air consumption is similar. I've got to do 6-10 full lock back and forth turns to get it tucked into it's parking spot behind the fence, and will run out of air at some point in the process...

    Different style cab/cargo cover hooks

My a2 (which has a '51-'52 frame, a gasser cab, and bed with about the same number of welded in patches as the cab) has 3 welded on wire type hooks towards the rear of each side, 2 bolted flat metal ones towards the front of the sides, and one of each type on each side of the front (3 bolted...

    11 x 20 non-directional tires

Gensco Home They had tons a few months ago, even on 5 ton wheels, if you wanted them. I seem to remember they wanted less then $50 for a wheel and tire. (and not much less without the wheel...). Shipping would probably be a killer though.

900 and 800 winches the same?

hydraulic motor turn by hand ? It is fairly unlikely (unless the motor is really small or one of the high speed ones) that you would be able to turn a hydraulic motor by hand. I used to fully understand why, but its been pushed out of my brain by other stuff, but they are basically backwards...

    Fisrt Deuce

It took a fair number of miles and 10+ tank drains to get all the foamy gray-black oily crud out of my air system, now it is mostly a reasonable amount water and just a little black crud once in a while. Cleaning the air compressor intake filter (inside a little housing on the side on the air...

    Oil drain spacers?

With the Baldwin filters, the smaller gaskets were the seals around the bolt for the canister. The oil drain plugs are relatively huge.

    Oil drain spacers?

oil drain plug gaskets available ???? My washers were thoroughly used up, and leaked. I looked all over, including some serious specialty industrial gasket / seal places, and could not find anyone with copper sealing washers in anywhere close to the correct size. I talked with an application...

    Aircraft Insulation in the Deuce?

freezer paper for templates I use "freezer paper", like butcher paper with a plastic coating on one side, for making insulation templates for the old British cars I work (play?) with. Readily available at the super market up to ~2' wide, seen 3' & 4' at restaurant supply places. Easy to mark...

    Deuce coolant leak

I ended up making mine out of gasket sheet - FEL-PRO #3075. Also did the thermostat housing gasket I removed to do the water pump to thermostat hose. Seems to be working fine (~2 months, but only ~300 miles...). Traced around the old gaskets or part, cut them with a really sharp (new) x-acto...

    Deuce coolant leak

old hoses I did all of mine. The bottom started to leak, and I accidentally pushed a nutdriver through it when I tried to tighten the clamps ! Pulled it off and found it had the same 1988 date code as the engine. As did the 2 oil cooler hoses, the thermostat housing to water pump hose, the...
