    in cab heater

A3 dash mounts I was just looking at an A3 last weekend for this detail. The heater is mounted on some adapters on the dash supports under the glove box. All of the individual parts sure looked the same as the A2, just turned and flipped.

    Lower Radiator Hose

I had to do all my hoses and belts last month, changed out the leaky heater shutoff valves, and added a coolant filter. I ended up pulling off the passenger side light assembly as well as the grill, which really helped access of the lower radiator hose, the heater hookups, and alternator belt...

    Deuce coolant leak

ditto That was my thought as well, having just done that. It is a pain, I could not figure out how to do it without removing the intake manifold or the water distribution manifolds to the head. The water manifolds (which I ended up choosing) also have gaskets between them and the head, on the...

lego army men and jeep from "Toy Story"

lego design software I tried an early version of lego's design software, and was disappointed. I've downloaded the new version, an am thinking of trying it out with the 5-ton. It would be cool to order a custom set. LEGO Digital Designer : Download

lego army men and jeep from "Toy Story"

the lego 5 ton I've been building Got kicked of out my son's room at bedtime (and all my legos are still packed up:-(), so still need to build the wrecker parts. The cab still needs mirrors, a better exhaust stack, and the winch cable. Since I ended up with an opening hood, I'm going to add...

30 day permit Or you can go into your friendly :!: local county tax office and get a 30 day temporary tag. They will want to see a proof of insurance card with the truck's info. You are not allowed to haul anything in the truck, but it makes you legal when you go to get the safety / VIN...

    Questions, 5-ton, TX-Specific

Your license and the truck's registration are separate. For the truck, look for Texas form VTR-52a (although, I think the Former Military Vehicle registration may be better for us...). The distance limitation is on your exemption from needing a CDL, this is explained in detail in the Texas DPS...

more then you really want to know... This web site has a reasonably complete primer on hydraulics- Fluid power basics - Hydraulics Pneumatics I do hydraulics so infrequently now that it seems like I have to re-learn them every time !

Closure On HEMTT Rim Adapter Plate Project

maching cost I have a fair number of parts built for the work I do, as a general rule of thumb having something machined or welded costs about $25 per operation, regardless of how you do it. Manual machining takes more time, but the time is cheaper. CNC, waterjet, laser, etc. takes less...

Texans: how long to get your Former MV plates?

It's pretty trivial to get a 30 day temporary tag, $25 (cash only!) and proof of insurance at the county tax office. Only restriction is you're not supposed to carry any loads if the truck is over 1 ton (I think that was the limit:?:). Jeff

question Anyone know why the inlet to the fan doesn't match up with the scoop inlet in the side panel (which I've only seen on dueces with the heaters) ? Jeff

Texans: how long to get your Former MV plates?

penalty exemption I just finished the title / registration process yesterday. You may need to (politely !) remind the tax office person that you are exempt from the 20 day penalty (if you've got an SF-97, or because the truck is eligible for antique plates). It is much less hassle to remove...

search index I also don't have the best luck with the search, and I'm a fairly experienced computer / database user / admin. More then once I've spent and hour or more searching for a subject (say, mufflers on a deuce) and think I've found the answers, and the next day another newbie posts...

    How are SF-97s currently moving?

Temp tag in Texas It's easy to get a 30 day temp tag in texas, you just need proof of insurance for the truck and $25 (cash only !, some sort of quirk in the law apparently). Go in to the same county tax office as for the title and registration. Only limit is you are not supposed to drive the...

    Dash Valve for wipers

seals over threads Don't know where to get the seal, but an old trick for slipping seals past threads (or other slots and grooves) is to wrap the shaft with some thin, stiff plastic (old fashioned overhead transparency plastic works great) right up to the groove you want the seal in, lube up...
