    Parts

Yea, I understand m16ty, but I had to cringe when reading the "You paid WHAT...." thread. Do I tell these guys what I paid? Nah...they'll tear me up. But then I started adding it up. What does a recovery cost, to start with? A day or so off work, cost of extra parts, fuel, etc. I didn't have to...

a couple questions about the deuce

There is more to consider than the cost of fuel : registration is dirt cheap, insurance is dirt cheap, and no speeding tickets. Those three things alone make driving the Deuce cheaper than my Toyota. Add to that , no more running to the body shop everytime a shopping cart bumps into the vehicle...

Maybe because its new to me, but I drive my 109 everywhere. Its especially fun to pull up to the Starbucks at the mall and watch the Prius crowd pee their pants...8<)

Manufacturers of the Deuce by year?

I chose the year myself. The data plate sez Kaiser-Jeep, which was purchased from Willys-Overland around 1965, I think. Then, like y'all said, sold to AM General around 1970. I could pick any year inbetween there, so its a '66. Alex

4 wheel steering on a deuce?anyone done it?

I've done the rear steer thing on a smaller vehicle(Datsun pickup) , there are issues: 1. When travelling slowly and turning corners you want the rear wheels to turn OPPOSITE directions from the front. 2. When changing lanes you want them to go the SAME direction. 3. You can get the vehicle a...

    Is it Illegal?

Just because there isn't any good reason to get hassled doesn't mean that you won't. As an example, I had a Crown Victoria with an amber arrow stick on the rear deck. What a friggin hassle. No markings, civilian plates, no strobes, red or blue lights. The neighborr kids burnt it to the ground...

    Air conditioner compressor-a/c compressor install...How?

That commercial unit specs a current draw of 68 amps at 24 volts, pretty close to what scooterrts calculated. So I think the math is good. Its also interesting that for an idea that shouldn't work there is an off the shelf solution available. That is actually the #1 reason for the success I have...

    Air conditioner compressor-a/c compressor install...How?

Hmmm, I've seen the EV (electric vehicle) guys do it this way in AZ: It takes about 2 hp to run a compressor. Mount a 2hp DC electric motor anywhere it will fit and drive the compressor with that. The EV guys don't connect the compressor directly to the traction motor (what we call the engine)...

    sustained top speed

A little off topic: so you're poking along the interstate at 52 MPH, do you run the 4 way flashers, a yellow becon, what do we do to avoid getting rearended by an 80,000 lb semi doing 80 mph? Alex
