I started to tear down the exhaust and everything under the HMMWV in prep to work on another transmission and hopefully get it done right this time... But then I woke up Saturday morning realizing that I needed to drive across town pick up some oversized stuff. So, I spent an hour putting it...
Everyone come up to my place Sunday morning. We'll pull my transmission, build it with the best parts between the two that I have and the parts kit, then reinstall that bad boy. :haha:

I've been thinking about EV, too. It'd be very neat to see a truly green HMMWV silently creeping along more urban settings! I'm sure there's a commercial driveline out there that could be adapted for use within the HMMWV chassis.

I volunteered to help a guy clean up his old man's house. Side perk is that I get to pick out some sweet military surplus he has for very little money. If we finish early, I'll head down for Saturday evening to ride along with some of you and will probably stay the night.

So, I've had an oddball concern come up. For a spell, I thought that my 4-way flashers were malfunctioning intermittently, as my turns signals worked 100% fine, brake lights were fine, and every position appeared to do what it should do...except sometimes my 4-ways wouldn't flash at all while...
Excellent write-up! Lots of details and it should cover any questions someone should have. I also fully agree with it being essential to start with a fully functional radiator and good-health coolant system. I went through and repaired mine last year and found the difference from just some...
This jump box looks absolutely brilliant. If I worked on more 24V vehicles, I'd definitely be adding one of these to my garage. Right now, I've got my HMMWV and an auxiliary heater trailer that runs off 24V.
I will say, this very well could've saved me from one time when I had battery issues...
That newer bracket looks so nice...If I had a mind to touch anything on my starter, I'd just throw one of those in there on principle. That said, I've already bench-pressed a starter up into place while a friend tightened the bolts, and I really have no interest in removing the starter unless I...
Was this truly done my HMMWV? Not exactly, but close enough. I've had an MSA Millennium gas mask for a while, which is extremely similar to an MCU-2/P, which in turn has a lot of accessories cross-compatible with an M40 mask. After I setup the intercom, I realized how much of a non-event it...
Can't comment on the valve tap. Not enough "everything is normal" driving under my belt with my HMMWV. I can say on the hissing, I had a small leak on my coolant that was making that sound. Once the engine was fully hot and under pressure from driving at speed, it'd start to spray out of one...
Played around and setup my VIC-3. FINALLY. I've only had most of the parts for over a year and just finished picking up the rest of the cables needed for a basic setup. Now that I was able to test it and work out the bugs in some of the hardware, I can finally think about where I'm going to...
It's perfect in the daylight, which is 95% of my driving, so no sense in permanent modification/disabling. I still want to see the blink at night, just not as bright... Maybe I'll make a second little cap for night use, or just slap a piece of tape on the top of it just to not be beamed in the...
Ain't that the truth. The worst fate to suffer: needing to have your 4-way flashers on at night, rolling miles and miles down the highway. I just rest my left hand over the ****ed flasher indicator and drive one-handed until I need to actually turn. Otherwise, it's an hour of being blind 50%...
I'd be interested in finding this out, too, but I don't want to take the time to flip between part manuals to spot all the P/N differences. Anybody here actually done it?
