Hi
Enjoyed the photos, always great to see people out enjoying their MVs.
A compromise on to "post or link" photos, is post the best shot(s) and provide the link for the rest of the story. This seems to work when there are a lot of photos or their file size is large. But whichever keep...
Hi All
Being December I was expecting a more seasonal trend in the nominations, like Christmas decorated MVs or MVs in the snow. So many opertunities.
Cheers Phil
Hi All
Over the years I've seen a number of field expedient recoveries of MVs involving every thing from blown hoses, complete cylinder failures, tubing failure, and one lose of entire dual wheel drum hub assembly. In each case the tool to seal off the offending section of the brake system was...
Hi All
The photos of how they got to be what they are now are great. Let's you know a lot more about the trucks and their people, if the "their people" sounds a little like the trucks own the people isn't that the case sometimes?
Cheers Phil
Hi
It is possble to register a MV in NH that has no engine or serial number, it just takes time and filling all the forms and going through all the hoops. One of my CMPs had no serial numbers at all but being over 50 years old that didn't seem to matter they (State DMV) just kept saying have...
Hi
Have a friend that was looking for hinge material for one of those trailers, suggested rubber membrane roofing. They have a heavy reinforced type, which I've used to replace the tarred canvas roof on my S56 shelter, and lot weather seals on the big shop doors. Nice thing about is most...
Hi
Your comment about antifreeze water separating, is something I have suspected but never seen documented. Recently mixed some full strength antifreeze 50/50 shook it a little then put it aside to use later. When tested it prior to putting it in the truck discovered it was only good down to...
Hi Stig
Thanks for the information, will have to look into Garmin Virb.
Having that type of information connected to a video helps put it in context when you look at it later.
Cheers Phil
Hi
Enjoyed the video, nothing like playing with MVs in woods. What did you shot the video with and what is the program that gives all the GPS data, makes for interesting video as it helps put the trip in context.

Speed control or peddle stop?
Hi
Don't own a duce but on the trucks I've worked on that had similar stops the purpose of the stop was not engine speed control but to prevent you from bending the lickage. When the peddle is on the stop is the throattle body all the way open?
Cheers Phil
Hi
Reversing the seats to face out was common practice on CCKW kitchen trucks. It is even shown in the cook manual to provide extra storage and work space when three stoves are mounted across the front of the truck. Will dig on the manual and scan some photos. In that same manual they have...
Hi
Thanks for the kind words on my Web page it was my way of sharing before Web Forum's like MLU & Steel Soldiers got going so strong as a source of shared help.
As to hard to find axle shafts, when I broke the 2nd axle (other side) I searched around and found company that make race care...
Hi
Thanks for the welcome, new to Steel Soldiers Forum but playing with MVs since 1979. When I rebuilt my first CMP HUP I kept finding NOS cylinders after having to replace them again 4 years later I went over to sleeving used White Post Restoration http://www.whitepost.com/ the next MV was a...
First M135 I drove in 1972
Hi Brad
Here are the pictures I was talking about from 1972 - If I had not gotten involved with CMPs probably would have started collecting these.
Back the early 1970s a sheltered employment program I was running got asked to clean up some CD M135s basically...
Hi Brad
While I was responding you posted your photo, still could be the compensation port not always being uncovered when the brake peddle is released. When the brakes don't want to release have you ever hocked your toe under the peddle and pulled up?
Some 40 years ago where I worked had a...
Simple but possible cause
Hi Brad
Had a moment to look at the manual for the M135-211 and it looks like the problem could be what I had on my CMPs which have a similar master cylinder.
What was happening was the Boot (C) was to stiff or to short and it holds the Piston (H) in so that it...
Hi Brad
Can you get a picture of the master cylinder and linkage? Ran into a simliar problem on Canadian MV and the cause and fix was so simple it is discusting. Has to do with linkage boot. I'll take moment and see if the TM section on the forum has your truck to see if it could be the same...
Hi Dave
Looks like a very interesting unit, any chance of a link to more information?
Cheers Phil
PS this may turn out to be double post as being new to the forum, Im having problems with posts at time.
More I formation please
Hi Dave
Looks like a very intestine unit, is there a Web link you could give us which would have more details?
Am I correct that this is a fully self contained unit that you just add electrical power and get air conditioning?
Cheers and thanks Phil
