Welding is my go to method, I’ve pulled a few like that.
Another good trick when I’m away from the shop is torx sockets. Get the tightest fitting one you have, hammer it in really well. Stick it in an impact, push into it as hard as you can and give er. Haven’t had one not come out that way...
I crack it with a ratcheting breaker bar, spin it off with a milwaukee ratchet. Slides right out of the bracket. Torque spec is something like 250lbs, as tight as you can get it with a breaker is more than fine lol.

Easiest way is to remove the large bolt that holds the radius arm to the frame. No risk of damaging the boots on either the ball joints or tie rod end.

Mine have bolts in from the sides and bolts coming up from the bottom placed in between the side bolts. Large thick fender washers on the insides. Drilling up from the bottom through the thicker rocker adds a ton of strength.

Find what? The design? Made the shape of the body from I believe 4x3” angle steel. Then added the tubing along the side for better spacing from rock/ trees or deep rutted trails. Saved the body many times

It’s one thing to mark up cheap Chinese stuff for a quick flip, not cool. A local guy wanted me to make a set like I made years ago. He laughed when I said $1,700. He doesn’t realize the steel costs almost 1/3 that these days… 1/4” thick

A guy I know bought these and they were only 1/8” thick. The main length of it was too short and it got pinched at either end, had to force it on with a jack on either side. I also don’t care for how it doesn’t follow the body line where it slopes up at the rear. Made in China, still not sure...
I really like this idea! I got into 3D printing a few months back. I would print them in a hard material (petg) and put a 1/4” thick piece of neoprene foam or rubber on top. I haven’t messed with flexible filament yet but most of the ones I’ve seen online are really easily compressed.

This would work for boxes that still function, but would allow the box to cook the plugs if it fails. Though the way I'm wiring the wait light, you would see when the box is actually sending power to the plugs. I'm primarily doing this as a way to repair broken boxes.
Correct, the older boxes use a large continuous duty solenoid to control run power. These newer boxes use several automotive type relays for that. Yes the circuit board powers the glow plugs. I’m adding the large 24 volt industrial solenoid to replace and eliminate the glow plug aspect of the...
Working on a truck for a customer, installed the "best" EESS, the KDS "smart start" a year ago and it's already frying glow plugs. Rather than another overpriced, prone to failure box I decided to go with a more permanent solution. Installed a high quality 24 volt 200 amp solenoid to power the...
I was driving the truck the other day and saw the volt gauge pegged. I have a volt gauge connected to one of the batteries and it was at 17 volts. Shut it down immediately and unplugged the exciter wire to drive home on battery power alone. Did some research and apparently the resistor fails...
Sure I can get measurements tomorrow. I’m a diy guy, but I also consider time vs cost. Steel has gone up so much now, I bet just the section of tube that size is $100+. Plus you usually get the small guy ripoff price when you go to the steel yard and aren’t getting a truck load. Every bolt hole...
This is a really cool idea and it would be great to have some affordable aftermarket doors. A great alternative to the imo, cheesy aluminum doors with an rv window.
I don’t see the need for carbon fiber though. This isn’t a race car and the weight difference between carbon and glass can’t be...
These are sealed agm without breather holes. I don’t see any reason why they’re more leak prone than optimas or any other agm. That’s why I was stoked to find them for half the price of the optimas. I had a wet battery in another vehicle leak acid from the breather and it stripped the paint to...
My truck came from the military with red top Optimas in the adapter trays. They're from 2011 and have finally gotten where they don't hold a charge more than a week. Optima is owned by Johnson Controls and they moved production to Mexico some time ago and from reading reviews, the quality isn't...
I honestly didn’t even realize they were supposed to have a pad there. Probably helps keep the tailgate from rattling and keep preload on the retaining hooks.
I’d just search adhesive rubber pad on amazon and find something that’ll work. These are supposedly 1/8” thick. Not sure how...
I don't know that there's a problem with the relay I just pointed that out because I was shocked to see that they used that, especially for what they charge for these things. Also the coil is only rated for 20 volts. I think a lot of things used to be under rated, but when it comes to cheap...
As previously said, it does have a lot of other functions than just the glow plugs. However, I haven't really seen anyone with issues other than the glow plugs not working or getting burned up.
Honestly I think these trucks should've never even had these boxes. It seems pretty pointless over...
Thanks, I've seen those pics of the S3 but I haven't been able to find any for sale. I messaged the seller of that box in the picture and he basically said it's generic but it uses a KDS sensor. He claims he hasn't had any issues with them, but I'd hate to get it and have issues, not knowing if...
