Augdog,
Pics attached. To operate it, you push up, rather hard I might add, and slide it over the driver's side. It bolts in pretty easy and the roof panel itself rides on a pair of rails. I had mentioned that it might be an armored cab truck. I found only one with a mount and it was an...
A jackstand can be used to help connect a towbar if you're by yourself. I've not had that luxury. What I do when I'm by myself is position my truck close, hook the tow bar to the disabled truck, remove the pins from the legs, connect the lunette ring to the pintle on my truck, back up till I...
Phil, you'll have to show them how to plumb into the air pack to make them understand how to "tie into" the brakes on the Deuce being towed. I'm fortunate you showed me first hand.
It's simple enough, Phil has a custom "J" pipe that he has equipped with an air chuck, an air line that fits it...
The reason you can't shift a 939 into reverse in low range is simple. The torque converter multiplies the torque sent through the driveline. Something is going to give and in the M939 series, it's the transfer case. In the M809 series, same basic driveline layout, they have a clutch which...
That was a case of operating "outside normal parameters" and it happens. Most all of us think about Safety as a primary concern as we don't won't to be involved in a huge mishap. In the military, we have done the same thing. We can't leave a truck behind, it has to make it back to the...
These have "Old School" fittings, you can get the outer beads and inner ferrules from McMaster Carr. I don't have the part number's in front of me but I have a bag of them in the shed and that's where they came from. I got in a bind on the way to the GA Rally this year and it was the line from...
I'll try to remember to take my camera to work on Monday. We have some 48's with ring mounts but they are armored cabs. There may be some differences but they could provide some clues.
It had a ring mount at some point during it's life and they couldn't get that leg out, I haven't been able to either. It's also got the cab re-enforcement plate riveted in at the back of the cab as well.
I'm testing the waters, no truck is for sale at the moment.
I have a 1971 M35A2 in pretty good shape. It has a Hercules Multifuel that was one of the last few motors the government could buy, it's a 1991 build, not rebuilt but new in 1991. It has spin on oil filters and a spin on primary fuel...
I run Seafoam in my CUCV on a regular basis. It's the only thing that seems to keep the injectors happy and free from sticking. I've apparently found the dis advantage to owning a truck that sat in de-humidified storage for most of it's life. I'll get the injectors rebuilt soon though.
vtdeucedriver. PB has spoken for ownership of "Proud American" but the hood numbers come from the original which was a M54A1 W/W. The original was destroyed in combat. Yes I do wish I owned the replica but it receives great treatment and storage in Columbus. I have caused some damage to that...
My daily is a 93' Eclipse, I perhaps have a different reference point as it only weighs about 2,300 pounds. The "joints" may be different as was pointed out by "G". I don't think a front drive only Deuce would be too much of a handful though.
I've got Firestones dualed in the rear and they rub the pinion cap bolt heads slightly but not enough to be concerned. They're shiny so as long as I drive the truck regularly, they'll never rust!!!
Sir, It scares me as well but I do enjoy the fact that the OP came here to ask his question. I'm sure many other's operate these things without the friendly advice that can be found here on SS. I'm sure you know as I do the the "emergency brake" on these trucks does no good so ensuring you...
Not super experience with these Dave but if memory serves correct, when you have a M1076 connected and you're ready to drop the load, you disconnect from the trailer, drop the flatrack on the truck, reconnect to the trailer, grab it's flatrack, load it on the truck, drop the trailer, and then...
Mylo219, Thread Highjack but so long as it's an A2 with an airshift transfer case, you can engage 4WD in the case of a Bobed or 6X6 in the case of mine on the fly. You can also shift the transfer case into low range as long as you're under the speeds that should be listed on the dataplate on...
Ford Mechanic,
I wished you would have searched around on here a little and got some part numbers on swapping over to a spin on primary. The parts are at your local Napa and you can adapt the mounting plate for your standard primary filter set up to the newer spin on filter head.
As for me...
Yes you can and should. It helps to offset the 10 mpg your truck likely gets. I collect waste oil from all my friends to include used motor oil of all grades, used auto transmission fluid, used gear oil with one exception, (tranny oil sometimes has a good bit of brass in it that would likely...
