Was underneath my ride last evening doing a drain and fill of the trans/transaxle and checked for leaks at the fuel plug. Nothing noticeable. Still seems tight and doing fine.

Looks like a well-used and happy HMMWV there. Won't the new brackets hit the hood if the windscreen is folded down? Probably doesn't matter, admittedly.

The ones I bought include left-handed drill bits and a carry case, but yes, spiral fluted extractors. I also decided to buy a 5 pack of straight sided ones, also Irwin, my theory being they might not crack so readily. Some reviews claim that they don't risk expanding the material being...
Changed the transmission and transaxle ATF last evening. The old fluid looked brand new and smelled lovely (for Dexron), which made me happy considering I'm not cure my "new" 1987 HMMWV has seen any maintenance this decade.
What made me sad was breaking one of the 13 trans pan bolts...
The post sale info link appears at the end of the listing for your won item in the Items Won view of your account pages.
From the post-sale page the Item Release form is a button located top center.
I'll attach a couple of tailored screen capture pictures from mine. Yours should look similar...
Predator42, no offense taken. The engine was running and I think the service lights were on, but that's a ****ed good question. It was daylight and I don't turn the lights on always, so I will be sure to try that to be sure. I plan to go out with a multimeter with alligator clips and try...
+1 call Ron. His number is on the Item Release form you print out from your post-sale info page. He answers his cell phone promptly and is knowledgeable. I was two weeks late picking my HMMWV up due to the "only once a week for a couple hours" timing of the DLA yard I had to pick up from...
Thought I'd put out an update. I haven't done as much work as I wanted to due to record-breaking rains in the DC area. We had 25 days of rain in the last 30, or some such. It meant a lot of hanging out inside or otherwise not working on the HMMWV. Yesterday the weather cleared and I blew off...
Update: I had to tighten the plug yesterday after seeing a slow drip leak had formed. It tightened up easily and stopped leaking. It seems like the rubber softened up after being immersed a while in diesel. The factory website implied the material is Viton but didn't clearly state it for this...
I submitted a request for a verified/binding shipping quote from Veritread after winning my HMMWV in mid-February. Still waiting for that quote. Meanwhile, by good fortune the depot was less than 100 miles from me, so I called AAA to help me with my stranded truck. Came off without any...
The 6.5 is an improved 6.2 with block and head issues fixed by GM. Price is subjective. If you're interested in unrestored you might consider getting one off govplanet and probably pay less than 18, but don't forget to figure in their fees.

Wow. Thawing a frozen engine by starting a fire under it. Thawing brittle frozen tires by dousing in burning gasoline. I guess it was a tad chilly. Gotta do what you gotta do.
I love the ground clearance, and that is some suspension. The tires look to be 40" tall.
Looks perfect for...
As noted it varies. Pay CLOSE attention to the fees and taxes portion, as well as shipping if applicable when deciding your top bid amount. The add-on fees increase significantly when you get over a coupla grand in bidding.
Bid on the later ones in the auction day, let the "oooo shiny, me...
Thank-you all for the continued welcome and tips/comments.
I have had "neat old thing" disease for a few decades, beginning with a '66 Mustang coupe when I was 17. The green disease is just another infective strain to me!
A trailer sounds like fun, but since buying my first pickup truck 5...
General diesel question: can a standard NA diesel burn home heating fuel oil?
I ask because I see plenty of people trying to give away old heating oil tanks with 20-200 gallons of oil in them around here. I know a multi fuel M35 would eat it up, but what about a GM 6.2L diesel?
If the price =...
Replaced the brake light switch today. Now I have all lights functional!
Tip for anyone wanting lights to come on sooner or later during pedal travel: the mount is slotted. You can just loosen the two nuts holding the switch on and slide it to affect the turn on point. No need to bend levers or...
I also was never notified of the EUC clearing, and figured it out by accident. I was not charged storage, but this is dependent on the location I think, and so I was fortunate.
The issue of a towing company pulling it somewhere else and then charging sure sounds like BS. I hope you do push GP...
