In short:
You know how old wrist watches had a tiny bit of radium (I think) to make them glow in the dark? Very mildly radioactive.
Old M-series gauges had the same thing.
At some point, somebody tested one and found out it was beyond the acceptable level.
So the same thing happened then as...
I have asked for clarification on this issue to be sure I am reading it correctly but the last line in the DLA press release makes me believe that the FD/LE entities will retain ownership as before:
Rules on ownership of items and accountability standards will also continue as before.
Ok, is everybody ready to smile?
The MVPA will be releasing an official statement at some point today and my contact's have given me approval to release this:
We're good to go-truck sales will resume shortly without restrictions!
The DLA has issued a press release...
If you go to most MVPA meets, the demographic is older and skews more towards Jeeps and WC's.
The SS demographics are younger and skew heavily towards the 6x6's as that's what is available and affordable.
There will be an announcement, probably tomorrow about the future of the surplus program, in regards to the general public:

You want some stuff called "Wild dog", it's a cleaner. Clintogf bought 5 gallons and her tank looked like...
I am going to have some very good news here very shortly.
It's something everyone is going to like.
As soon as I get word that it's "public", I'll put it out there. I have to go run a bushhog on a tractor for a bit for a friend, so it may come out somewhere before it comes to me and I can...
Yes I did, thank you much.
I already gave it to Dave for his Atomic Energy Commission Dodge A 100 pickup project and he flipped out. He really appreciated it as well.
Paid $150 for an NOS one a few years ago.
Works good in a rough environment where you can't use an engine hoist.
Can be difficult to get in place - there were no air shift switches when they designed it.
Ok, here's the early style A1 (and early A2-this is my '67 KJ M35A2) mount:
And here's a sagging mount on a low mileage (14K mile, verified with all paperwork since the truck was new), never deployed USAF truck that's reasonably new (1988):
As requested. This truck was Army, Field...
So, I have no idea what Andy's budget is or how much of this he wants to do himself or if he wants to farm it out to somebody else, but if it were me:
I'd pull the pan and inspect the bearings. See what the bottom end looks like. See if there are parts floating around. If the bearings look...
People say to me all the time "You're so good at search, how do you find this stuff?"
It's sad but the best way to be good at searching is to read all of it.
When I joined SS, I'd try to read at least 2 or 3 pages of threads, starting with the oldest and just slowly work my way forward.
When...
I can't speak from experience on the gasser, but there are 2 totally different front engine crossmembers and 2 totally different transfer mount systems.
The M44A1 front engine mount is vastly superior to the M44A2 which can bend and sag under the weight of the multifuel. I have several trucks...
On the drivers side framerail near the pitman arm.
Super common for them to be mistitled by previous owners who have no idea (and probably a few DMVs who have no clue).
Your both correct.
What are the odds that the person at the DMV who typed that out also knew that?
How many deuces out there are titled as "Kaiser" or "Jeep" instead of "Kaiser-Jeep".
