That water that creeps into the rubber gasket is also the cause of the fogging you see along the bottom edge of the glass on some windshields. A little sealant inside the rubber molding would have prevented it.
BTW 10-32 screws are machine screws, not self tapping screws. Self tapping screws...
The GRC-206 pallet uses 2 VRC-83s for dual airband operation with the AS-3588 antenna. See if you can locate one of them. Here's an old link that has a good description and pictures...
I haven't seen anyone ask what tires are on your 998? Let's not assume they're 37" radials and everybody knows the 36" bias ply tires ride like shit until they round out after half an hour.
Acudanut, Those A2 shackles you see were a corner protection bracket the Marines added for strength and to provide lifting points further apart than the ones in the bumperettes. They mounted under the bumperettes and then wrapped around the corners of the fenders.
I got a low rider friend here in San Jose that can fix you up with some 12" Honda wheels with low profile tires. With some new hydraulics and springs he can probably get your ride clearance height down to 6" and you shouldn't have any problems with that pesky door. 🙃🙃🙃🙃
Jammed or missing thermostat? Fan continuously running? Defective gauge or sensor? Do some troubleshooting first, there's a hundred things that can cause this. Have you bothered to look at the troubleshooting guide in the TM?
Measure the small exciter connection pin to the alternator to see if it's getting +24v when the ignition switch is turned on. If it doesn't connect a jumper from the #54 wire on the IP to it. They both get +24 volts wit the RUN switch.
What you've read is correct. The advantage of using an MX-6707 for your antenna beyond it's appearance is it's tunable base. I would definitely recommend against gutting it because good units are getting harder to find and it's a great military antenna to use with lots of radios.

Since the sensor for the temperature gauge lives directly behind the alternator and you just replaced it good practice says you look at the last thing you worked on. The fan coming on has absolutely nothing to do with the temp gauge other than they're both triggered by hot water.
The 24 volts NDT is talking about is on the #54 wire to top of the injector pump. This powers up when the RUN-START switch is put into RUN and opens the fuel solenoid inside the IP that allows the fuel to flow. This is also what shuts the truck down when you turn the switch off. That solenoid...
