    Fuel pump rod busted...

I just did this job on a friends HMMWV and there's no good way to push the fuel pump actuator pin back up into the block without removing the mounting plate. The gaskets are readily available and fit 1955 thru 1995 GM engines and only cost a few bucks so bite the bullet and remove the plate. I...

    Wipers?

I hope you used stainless washers so they won't rust up and create the problem all over again. I think brass would actually have been the best option.

    Wipers?

The wiper motor gets its power from the same point as the gauges and grounds to the same point as the horn. So if the gauges work and the horn works like Greg says, the contacts at the centerpost of the windshieldare the culprit.

Any idea what might have been mounted here?

It's a standard military switch like those mounted in vehicles like the CUCV. Only more poorly done. It could have been for anything that needed to be turned on and off.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Had a great learning experience yesterday repairing/replacing glow plug stuff. For about a year now I've had a lot of white smoke only on startup that I attributed to bad glow plugs. Yesterday I pulled the right splash guard, radio shelf and engine covers to check things out. I found the...

    4L80E locked in second gear

Check the relay that provides +12v to the transmission control unit as a start. If you lose it the truck goes into limp mode. After that it's all the usual suspects.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Hobo Freight has a great little straightening comb tool for radiator fins. It has 6 different fin spacing sections to match almost any cooling system. Looks like Hobo might have dropped this tool but if you search "condenser radiator tool" they ll pop up.

    Weepy tire?

You didn't say what your leak down rate is and if it takes a couple of days to bleed down just a few pounds I doubt your going to find it with a bubble leak check. Pull the wheel apart and clean the mating surfaces. I like the grease idea to help seal things up. Replace the O-ring on the valve...

    TH400 PARK update

PARK YOUR HMMWV ADDENDUM 2020 Back in the olden days (2001) I wrote the article on adding park to the HMMWV TH400 transmission in the HMMWV and I’ve seen it republished several times since then. I was recently working with Glen on adding park to his M998 and realized that there were some...

    Transmission modulator o ring

When I first got my truck I was seeing some seepage in that area and replaced the modulator O ring a couple of times. What it turned out to be was the dipstick tube itself had cracked right at the collar the O ring sits against that was leaking. Pulling the tube is a 1 bolt operation.

    Transmission Light Issue

The T-case lock LED is powered from the switched RUN power to the instrument cluster, down thru the shifter switch to the T-case lamp and then it grounds to the left cylinder head. The control box isn't in the circuit anywhere. Someone has been mucking around with your wiring or has possibly...

I received this picture from a friend who's trying to identify the bumperette markings. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Driving a personal Humvee on the streets while national guard is deployed in state

Seems like the liberal idiots here in the Bay Area seem to think that driving slower than they normally do will stop the spread of the virus. I've been out twice in the last 2 weeks and both times I had to push things to hit the posted speed limits. This shelter-in-place sure does wonders for...
