Elohim1, your M715 build is NICE! My son and I bought a 1967 M715 two years ago which is what got us addicted to the green machines, now 6 various M939's and 8 trailers later, the M715 is still in pieces. I'd love to talk with you and have additional photos of your build. We have duece axles and...
Yup, my A1 tool box is 20" wide and the "pocket" for the 14R20 spare is 17" wide from the piano hinge edge of the tool box to the opposite side. The pocket is actually wider on the interior by approx 2" if you were to measure under each edge of the lip. I don't know what the welded mounting...
I have an M936A1, the 14R20 spare fits in the spare tire holder inflated. PM me with your email and I'll shoot you some pics after I get out to the truck tomorrow.
Hey elkhtr, I just installed two sets of the lollypop lights, one on my M936A1 and M923A1. How did you integrate the wiring into the turn signal? MV connectors or? Thanks buddy.
Solved the flashing headlight issue, one of the headlight 3 stud bolts rubber isolator was loose resulting in a bad ground. Just replaced the alternator belts today. The alternator spools up fine, no noise, etc. After the truck warms up, the volt gauge will spike hard right into the red. I shut...
Thanks to goldneagle, I located the correct retro fit alternator belt for my M936A1, the NAPA 25-7480 fit nicely! Funny as I had been to NAPA earlier in the morning with the OEM Dayton belts and they could not cross reference at NAPA or O'Reilly's. Went home searched SS for about 1/2 hour and...
Albert, I was finally able to get out to my truck today (rebuilt 2010 A1 version), no plug on the bottom of the motor? Any idea if the plug version is an updated or older version from the non-plug hydro motors? Now I'm wondering what do do about the motor over pressurizing as you've described?
It's the wheel you should be concerned about. They are 20" in diameter. The M939 series trucks will accept tire sizes with some limitations on offset of the wheels from 16R20 to 9:00X20. The typical size single tire size is 14R20 which are approx 49.5" in diameter. Check this link for tire...
The 395 tire/wheel combos you see on GL are primarily MRAP steel and Hutchinson aluminimum wheels which will not fit the M939 series truck hubs. I have seen some 395's lately that are NOS mounted on FMTV wheels which will bolt up to your truck. As for wheels to single out, you want the "Combat"...
I'd like to do the same thing to my M146. Dang, I just cut up a deuce to recover the steering and rear boogies and scrapped the rear frame section :0(. What kind of budd wheel adapters are you using? It looks like you converted the hubs from the 6 lug to the 10 lug hubs? Any close up photos...
Thanks brother, that makes sense. My motor does have a bit of seepage around the case seams and I sure as heck don't want to blow or prematurely wear a seal!
Albert, my M936A1 looks identical to yours with the allen head on the bottom of the motor. With your modification how does the motor drain? It looks like it would have to drain uphill from the set up or oil from the return line would be flowing downhill to the motor? Is the goal to have the...
Yup, the A2's run like velvet in comparison to the A/O and A/1's. I have a M923A1 with a new 2011 crate motor and the air compressor has the knock sound. My two A/2's have none of the rock rattle and roll of the non turbo Cummins motors.
If you blow a hummer tire, they simply fly apart down to the runflat. You can limp on the run flat but they too shred and come apart. I blew one on a M101A3 coming back from Barstow in 115F degrees. We had a spare but it **** neared killed my son and I from heat stroke. The lug nuts are locking...
