Thank you sir for that detailed report. Even though it would be pretty cool to see the display trucks, it looks like I should stay home and get some work done around the house. You just saved me from a 4 hour roundtrip disappointment. . . . Yea, maybe next year.
Jeff
Thanks for the info. Seems like its worth the trip to take a look.
I know what you mean - I'm the same way about "glossing over" the stuff that fits somebody else's truck :) . . . Although, I would bet that there are a couple of guys here that could identify just about any part you could...
I saw the ad in MVM and was considering going, but have so much work to do at home. Sunday would be my only option.
:?: Have you been there? Are there alot of 5-ton parts for sale? It is about a 2 hour drive for me, but it would be worth it if I could pick up some missing truck pieces.
Jeff
I've been reluctant to commit because I didn't know if I was going to have the truck ready or not. . . . well, as LH7 stated, it is time to get off the fence. Regrettably, I am going to have to volunteer as an emergency contact/gopher only. I was hoping to do some trail riding in the 5-ton...
Well, . . . seeing that we migrated off topic of Monster garage long ago, . . . .I noticed that the science channel is now airing Junkyard Wars reruns (scrapheap challenge in the UK) twice each week day!!!! - noon and 6 pm EDST.(US)
Today's show is on minesweepers. The mulewrights team...
HRD,
Are you kidding, . . . $385 !!!!! for a complete wrecker??? I hope you can sleep at night, . . . 'cause you stole that thing!
Please don't part it out, somebody should buy it whole.
Deuceman51,
Did you ever get that 5-ton wrecker you were looking at awhile back? You...
I apologize in advance, I don't want to take the discussion off topic. However, I wanted to steer Rattlehead to a discussion about a possible air shift conversion? to the older 5-tons.

Guys,
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Junkyard Wars is indeed no longer in production.
I was fortunate enough to get on the show twice. I was there for the last show - The Great Race. (2004)

Bjorn,
I think the list of your MVM articles can be found in this link:

Great information - knowledge that you won't find in the TM(s). Get the most out of your MV. I am a subscriber.

Love those pictures of the deuces climbing the firewood.
I am literally less than 15 minutes from the gravelrama site. I finally made it there to watch for the first time last year- but I went on the last day, and things were kinda' winding down by then. Still had alot of fun. Insanely Big...
For those of you who are decorating your 5-tons, I found this "handy" chart for bridge plates. ("handy" - that is, if you are like me and don't like doing the math):banghead:

I have also heard this rumor about the reputed fuel-efficient Zenith carb, but I can't remember where I heard it.
I do know that Saturn Surplus has the Zenith for $125.
Look on this page: http://www.saturnsurplus.com/m35/m35-2.htm
I just bought one. Nice people and fast shipping. (It is...
Thanks Jason,
I just noticed that the link I sent in the last post lists over 100 coils. I meant to show the link that narrows the list to only four. Sorry.
I think I am going to get a 1.5 ohm coil and give it a try.
I appreciate the info.[thumbzup]
Thanks, Jeff.
I think this should show...
I have looked at about a half-a-dozen 5-ton wreckers over the past two years, and I have seen prices from $5500 to $18000.
All of those were the multifuel engines, which seem to be more popular and desirable.
The gas engine has a pretty decent torque rating, but it gets a low score for fuel...
