    M105a1 levers

manual wheel brakes for parking and keeping it from rolling. Nothing to do with the air system to my knowledge, just a mechanical parking brake same as the parking/emergency brake on any car. Nothing to do with tilting

Poll - What Directional Switch do you have?

C, but it had some minor issues with the cancelling lever, so I pulled it out and treat it the same as A or B

    M1152 Low Top Speed

okay, so with 40 inch tires if you are in 3rd gear it would put the differential ratios about 3.18 at 3300 rpms. If the tires are actually 39" diameter instead of 40", then it puts it right back at 3.08 where it's supposed to be. 67mph at 3300 rpms would be 39.9" diameter tires back at 3.08...

    M1152 Low Top Speed

All the ECV/REV trucks should be geared 3.08. I haven't heard of lower gearing than that in any military HMMWV, but I suppose it's possible somehow. Always the chance the wrong gear for the speedometer is in the transmission, or maybe you're getting stray signals to the tachometer causing it...

Did I use the wrong coolant?

Usually you only have issues when it wasn't thoroughly flushed. Dexcool does have a bad rep though. That being said, if it was my rig I'd replace it. The coolant is relatively cheap compared to the cost of repairs to the cooling system if it does cause issues. It might not, but with...

Is it the end of the world? Latest GP auction prices.

yes, IROAN tends to be the same time as they got the MAK or Red Dot aircon install. Not a real rebuild, and only things that were considered to be issues were supposed to be repaired. From a reliability standpoint, there probably isn't really any difference. If the truck sat for 10 years...

Heavy 200A alternator hanging off the cylinder head? (6.5L)

I had the short bracket that went to the exhaust stud. Because my exhaust manifold wasn't machined flat, it put uneven pressure on the exhaust stud. My truck sheared that exhaust stud twice in a couple thousand miles. I replaced the short bracket that went to the exhaust stud with the longer...

    Missing jack and tools

That looks like the one I have in my M1123. It works really well. One piece of advice I got about them was to run a ratchet strap around the outside of the case to prevent it from coming open when you are driving, as that leads to bad things happening to your truck.

Help Me identify what this is i purchased ?

I found it through a web search; never downloaded it myself.

Is it the end of the world? Latest GP auction prices.

Sigi, you're supposed to have both city and state in your profile; it's part of the rules for this place. If you are on facecrook, we have a Pacific Northwest Steel Soldiers group for this area. We usually have a few activities a year. There are a few members down near where you are at if you...

    Secondary Oil Pressure Gauge

In the past reading through a bunch of posts, these engines don't really have oil pressure issues. If something isn't reading right, it's either the sender or the gauge, or a wiring issue. And as was pointed out, by the time you figure out you don't have oil pressure, you're already screwed

    CV boot on HMMWV

All M1123 are M998A2 series trucks, and will have 12k axles Just wetness I don't worry about. A little bit of oil won't hurt anything. If it starts dripping then I worry.

What did you do to your trailer today.

The quality of the setup for your first cut will determine the quality of the boards you get. Have to get it set up perfectly straight. I've used a couple 2x4 screwed down into the top of the log, with rubber wedges adding support if needed. I've also run 60 penny nails in a straight row, and...

Are our belt tensioners 6 or 8 groove?

I thought all the belts were 8 groove for the HMMWV, and only the civi H1 had a 6 groove belt. Is the belt for the turbo trucks different than the non-turbo trucks? I thought the tensioners were all smooth. Just the post 196900 trucks had lips on the edges of the pulley, but still flat as it...

Used, untested Red Dot AC system

At this point there are quite a few of those units out floating on the market. Not the most desirable to have, but better than nothing in some cases. I'm sure someone might be interested in buying it, but might take a while.

What did you do to your trailer today.

We used an Alaska type mill when we built the log house (back when I was a teenager) Upside is how portable they are Downside is they aren't very efficient, and take a very long time. It goes slightly faster if you have actual ripping chain. Also needs properly set up to get a straight cut...

    Hard Door Recommendation

Wood and fiberglass will both absorb the gluing agent into the fibers, effectively becoming one with the fibers. You have a much stronger bond because of this, and the base materials are strengthened with the additional bonding agent absorbed into the fibers. When gluing two pieces of metal...

    MAK Marine Armor Kit question

I just spent $550 for a 20 foot stick of 3/8" 4x4" angle iron and a 4x8 sheet of 1/4" steel and I'm cleaned out for a while.

    Hard Door Recommendation

It also is kind of dependent on what is being used as the binding agent for the lamination.

    Availability of TQG's

Heat pumps are great if you spend the extra for the geoexchange type. Underground the temp stays pretty constant, so the heat pump is more efficient. Most people end up cheaping out and buying heat pumps with heater strips that activate when it's too cold. Some of those heat strips are 10kw...
