New ones have a plate added to distribute forces around the interface between the ball joint and the perch on the control arm.
I drilled my holes out and painted them to prevent rust when I replaced the ball joints. I did not add the plate but others do. A friend drove 200k miles on his old...
People are freaking out regarding supply chain issues because they are unable to buy new cars because this country, the inventor of the microchip, stop making anything important and sent all that technology to asia. I believe that within the next 6 to 8 months, a lot of these people who bought...
Did you remove the old fuel and use fresh Diesel fuel to ensure your old fuel was not bad??
When you replaced the glow plugs and injectors, did you ensure they were properly installed so there are no air leaks?
I guess you could also check compression if all else fails.
DO NOT EVER USE...
Guys, let’s make this simple.
We’ve all rode bicycles with gears.
If you put the bicycle in high gear you are able to maintain faster top speed at the cost of more work in the legs/engine. You lose the ability to push the tires as hard from a standing start. There is no mechanical advantage...
Thanks. I have sent this information to my friend and he was quite appreciative. He is not a stranger to working on his civilian H1 and wishes to try this welding project.
Search is not my friend. Anyone remember the author or the thread regarding someone making their own home made version of the rear ratcheting spare tire carrier that attached to his airlift bumper?
This was posted maybe a year or more ago.
My friend on another Hummer (H1) forum wants to make...
I would rather my half shafts break then my transfer case or transmission. I will not be upgrading my axles at any time because the brakes are just fine.

Steve, I have that unit and I’m happy to measure it out and work with you to make aftermarket units. Whenever you have made an aftermarket unit it is always perfect.
I only know what I’ve been told. The lights could act as a shunt for reverse current to flow when cutting the engine.
That being said, I’ve been told:
“You know that women never really faint
And that villans always blink their eyes
You know children are the only ones who blush
And that life is...
Sorry Action. I didn’t mean for it to look like I was calling you (or anyone else) out. I’m not, and I wasn’t, and I apologize if you felt that way.
My point is that this OP must feel bad enough already despite this looking like the failure of a defective unit.
Sorry Action if you or anyone...
On the one hand, It is easy to make comments about tires and rims and how we should stick with stock offset, and on the other hand this is such an oddball failure that it almost looks as if the spindle was defective and anything we have to say might be unsubstantiated conjecture.
Maybe I’m...
This is a frequent discussion on the Hummer network forum. Wide wheels are super bad for spindles. These don’t look that wide though.
I was going to say you need Blue Hummers BUT this is something else. Yikes!
