You still have the slave connector hooked up with 2 batteries. You're still wiring the batteries in series and still running 24 Volts. With 2 batts, you're good down in my neck of the woods.
Adam, we're in the same boat. I'd like my Deuce to come as well but I'm tied to "Proud American" so if anyone from SW GA would like to drive a Deuce and M105 up, let me know. PB is a tough boss but he takes good care of me.
If it's a Barstow truck, I can almost ensure you that there are no petroleum based fluids or batteries in them. I'd advise against towing as the diff's and transfer will be drained as well. As far as M939A2 quirks, I've had trouble with fuel shut off solenoids. They do a great job shutting...
I think I get about 10 MPG's in my M35A2. As posted above, I don't know why it would be relevant, they run good, it blows black smoke out the stack and that's all I'm worried about. For What it's Worth, it can pull 23,000 pounds on a towbar albeit probably used more fuel on that trip. If...
Only thing I could add to this is make sure you have the beveled side of the fuel shut off facing upwards. Don't know why I felt like it should be any other way. After what seemed like 20 minutes of getting the tip to line up in the head, I went to install the cover and was a "No Go"...
Fantastic score. I looked at the auction pics but it was on the complete opposite end of the country from me. I'm certainly envious, I'd like to make a camper out of one some day.
Just don't run the headlights and don't shut the truck off and it should be fine for the parade. Use a battery charger to top the batteries back off when you've completed your trip and you should be fine. If you have a 3 lever switch, switch the lights on as you normally would and then move...
Negative, to a local Wrecker company that felt the need for more winch power and more off road capability due to people getting trucks stuck going to the deer camps on slick GA Red Clay roads. They never called me and it would've been cheaper for them to do so but then again, I'm not Commercial...
I had a similar issue with my CUCV recently. I left it for a static display, someone turned on the interior lights which means, someone rotated the light switch and turned on the under dash lights since CUCV's don't have a dome light. Anyhow, the back battery was good but the front battery was...
The wrecker was neat, I enjoyed it's abilities but in the long run, it didn't see much use other than joy rides. Someone else thought more of it and it's got a nice home. I think recovering stuff with a tractor and a lowboy with a winch works better for me and since the DRMO business around my...
I've been offered various amounts for my M35A2 and M105 combo. They always made it back to my house and never changed hands. I agree, keeping tags and insurance and then feeding the combo diesel and performing maintenance is not always a practical endeavor. I enjoy knowing that my combo is in...
IP Pump Expert
I'd like to toss Gimpy a Thanks for walking me through putting an injection pump back together, both in his posts on the site as well as on the phone earlier today. I appreciate it Chris!!! Hope you didn't mind someone on here gave me your number but it's saved for future...
Since you mentioned a Norway Cave Truck, I figured I'd update. It now has a set of new batteries, about 4559 miles and is running like a top!!! I'd bet you'd bid more than $100 bucks on this old truck. I'd post pics but they look the same as the ones in the NOS USMC M1028 thread. FWIW, I...
Got home, slaved the truck off so it could get closer to the shed. Ran a test on the alts, all is good. Shut it off, checked for drains by testing with the voltmeter and found none with the light switch and interior lights off. Tried to recover the front battery and couldn't. It was sulfated...
I work at the Depot at MCLB Albany, they have no Deuces anymore but they have 3 M109's that were refurbished around 1995 or so. They are still N/A with the small stacks and the sun has been rough on the paint but they look OK overall. None of them will slave off but they will turn over when...
Mine has oil all underneath. The trucks I drove for the National Guard before they left us were in similar shape. Apparently, a Deuce got parked next to a Harley Davidson and was enlightened about the whole "marking your territory" concept. Now, if I park it up town and don't see a drop of...
Travis, you have a glow plug or two or three that have said, "See ya later". When mine were fried in my truck, it would do the same thing. Make sure it's had the Doghead bypass done before you install new ones. I've got AC 60Gs' and they work fine. The reason for the white smoke is unburned...
