I had some overspray on my windows (from me). Put some wd40 on a rag, paint came right off. Cleaned the wd40 off and used glass cleaner to make sure none was left. Windows look brand new now!
I have had my humvee for a year and a half now. Put around 15k on it since I got it. It originally had 67k on it, with the 6.2 being rebuilt in 20013 (odd I know).
Since I got mine I've been on two 500 mile road trips. One trip I later found out I did with one hub completely full of water...
eBay has hem I think. Personally I haven't seen the 100 amp much, just the 200 amp cause it's the more popular one.
I don't think it would be a good idea to build up the tired old 60 amp
The 60 amp gen can keep up, but with the alt you cannot add any addition electrical load until an upgrade is done, which you might want to do. Electrical upgrades might include military or civi radios running on either 24v or 12v (dual voltage is nice for this), phone plug in, stereo system, LED...
You'll want a high temp fan switch. I have a 200 degree switch and its annoying in 80-90 degree weather where the fan comes on every 5-10 minutes. I'm thinking of switching to the original 220 switch to stop the frequent fan usage.
Considering that others have had years without problems I'll take my chances with how I've been told to install it.
If anyone sold the gen 3 switches I wouldn't have bought the gen 1.
Pretty much all of my off roading involves driving under the big powerlines. Never heard or have experienced that problem...
But all the more reason why the switch needs to be grounded to the alt and body, to give it the best ground POSSIBLE.
There's nothing wrong with a little discussion. If you don't like it then don't bother reading this thread.
As for the installation, I'm simply commenting on what I've been told by others, its not my opinion, its what others have seen been done both on civi owned trucks and in service ones.
I was told that the units should be grounded to the body ground and alternator ground only. Guy who's been selling them has several installed and never had problems, but mostly because of the low current draw of the entire LED setup.
