    Second Gear

i have talked with people i know who rebuild this transmission. they (we) have a cumulative experiance of approx 100 years, and non of us have ever seen or heard of the keys shearing until last year and just on this forum. i have to wonder if all the trans travis sees come from the same place...

    Pripyat, Russia

my guess would be that those sites are related to power transmission. that is not the only one , there are others that look similar. they were in the process of building reactors 5 thru 8, and only took #4 off line in 2000.

    Second Gear

patrick, when you are in 2nd gear, that gear is locked to the shaft and does not need any oil. 2nd gear seizure is from to high a speed in 5th. none of the gears have needle brngs. you don't slip the clutch, you just engage it quickly with no or almost no throttle. if you cannot do this...

    Second Gear

well i guess you guys will agrue this for the rest of the year............. funny that i can start out in 2nd with NO throttle and then apply it after the clutch is fully engaged!! and i can tell you that the syncro dogs of some 2nd gears are made flat from new and will not engage stopped OR...

Is there a mechanic in the house?????

you have something very seriously wrong with your compressor pressure control mech. the weight of the oil has something to do with how well it pumps, but nothing to do with how high the pressure goes. find out what is wrong with the pressure control first. tom

    Pripyat, Russia

the majority of the area once closed is now sort of open, with tours to some of it. large areas are now considered safe to live in. (maybe with a dosometer??) cesium 137 has a half life of 30.7 years. i think and that accounted for a lot of the radiation. so maybe some day someone can buy one of...

    Second Gear

it is normal for the 2nd gear not to engage when stopped. the syncro dogs are fairly blunt and will not always push their way in. just keep pressure on them and very gently ease the clutch out until you feel them start to go in and then push clutch back in. there is absolutely no reason not to...

    Aircraft Insulation in the Deuce?

template this is a pic of the pattern i use. the 3 upper right, times 2, do the back of the cab. the upper left does the air vent, and the lower 4 do the firewall and cowl.

    Aircraft Insulation in the Deuce?

bjorn, yours may be old and missing all the foam!! the original stuff was about 3/8" thick, self adhesive and had a thin textured coating on the outside. i made mine from the material used for under the mil air mattresses, about 1/2" thick.

    Aircraft Insulation in the Deuce?

as for pdf files, that would be great, but some of these are much larger than anyones printer. for example there are two pieces that do the entire firewall. i will try to get to making some copies this weelend. tom

    Aircraft Insulation in the Deuce?

the patterns i have do all the cab except for the floor and doors, which is an easy area to make. does behind seats, around and on vents, firewall and under cowl. i would love to give these to anyone who really wants them, but it costs some small amount to have material to trace them on and to...

Is there a mechanic in the house?????

30 wt is probably NOT the right oil to use. i would assume a multi vis oil since it is air cooled and the oil temp will be high. with straight 30 wt, the pressure you get makes some sense, high when cold and low when hot. this could be aggrevated by wear, but the most common problem with oil...

M656 triangular o-ring between tire and wheel

there is no 'O' ring on the original wheel, tire install. when mounting other than the correct tires you may need to use 'something' to seal the tire to the wheel. the O rings used on construction equip wheels will be the best match, but may still leak. i would just put tubes in and be sure. tom

    m35 clutch slips

tm, you must be kidding, with the drain plug out there will be no oil in the housing. the top of the threads are at the lowest point. just sounds like a worn out clutch. tom
