Ok,
I talked to a friend of mine about these tanks. Mine is a different run. The gen tanks need an adapter plate and the existing M-37 sending unit attaches to it so all you will need to do is extend your connector. I know where to get some already made adapter plates if someone wants...
Carla,
The M-37 sending hole is there already. For the Gen trailer, it has a blank cover with the gasket for the sender. The gen float gage is closer to the fuel neck on the tank and is a bigger diameter. All you will need to do is make a blank for that and cut a gasket.
HAHA,
Well the cat is out of the bag now. I sent that tidbit of info to Carla in a PM. My tank is a NOS gen tank and it fits.....................I can hear the tanks being removed on these trailers now.
Well being that last month I was in the running also and got beat out by a nicely restored M151, size has nothing to do with it in my mind. Sure I did not do a ground up restoration, the taxpayers did that for me in 98. I bought the truck not long after so all I needed to do is paint it and...
Yep I did not do any of that listed above. I drove it home, sanded the carc paint and painted it semi gloss OD and drove it. Been making 60 yr old men feel 18 again for the last 12 years.
Jeese, maybe I should try and contact my uncle in Nigeria and see if he could help with some votes. Come to think of it I think he died...........maybe he left me some money.
I've also had the great pleasure to make this happen. The two pictures were 45 years apart to the month!! Richard, a 5th Maint Bn Vietnam Veteran. He worked heavy maintenance during the war and also went TDY driving tractors for the 359th Trans Co. I was able to get him behind the seat...
Bought the truck in 2001 (I THINK). I had painted it to represent the 64th Trans Co and ran it that way for a few years until 4 years ago when I had started chatting with the son who's dad died in Vietnam. When I found out that he was active army and not far from me, I thought hey how neat...
Wow, I don't normally check this out other than the last time when I nominated myself. I was surprised today that "Ole 206" (as she is known in the 359th Trans Assn) is back in the running for May and is up there without me knowing.:)
Thanks PB for the offer......................I cant commit to anything just yet. Lets see what happens in July.....Right now I am going day by day with it. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather up here.
Anyone ever change out the horn wire in the column of a 5 ton??? Not noted in my manual that I can find. Had it apart and I believe the only way now is to undo the clamp at the box and the panel and slide the outer sleeve back with the steering wheel removed???
